MLB Tie Breaker Logic
I noticed that if two or more teams are tied there is generally a tie breaker games. However, home field advantage in that game is then determined by a number of priorities. Head to head record is the first. But I noticed that INTRA division record also is listed. I can understand this for teams tied within their division but I'm wondering why it would still be used for two teams tied in different divisions.
Can anyone provide the insight to this? Trying to figure out my leagues tie breaker rules. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

No rationale, really, other than it is a criteria that can be used. I suppose for wild card ties MLB could have gone NFL-style and skipped division record in that instance and moved to intraleague record as the next step after head-to-head.
