Error: Could Not Download File

Stumped!

A few days ago received this message when trying to download an online league file.

Tried another league I'm in. Same thing. Downloads some, but only up to about 24%, then message.

I have tried new settings files.
Downloaded new league files.
Reset my router to see if the d/l was affected in some way.
Tested speed of modem with IP (fine).
Hated to (as I have NEVER had an issue before) but even tried passive ftp setting in OOTP.

Nothing seems to work. Cannot access d/l for any online leagues now.
NOT suggesting this is game-related, but repeat - I am really Stumped!

Any ideas??

Are you on the same patch that your league commish is using?

I know single-player leagues won't load on occasion if you're trying to load them on on older patch than they were created on. Seems likely the same could be true for online leagues.

I'm unsure if that matters or not, but it's the only thing that immediately springs to mind

That matters sometimes, absolutely worth checking.
1) Anti Virus, new one? download an update lately?
2) Firewall?
3) Are you getting intermittent or interrupted downloads anywhere else?
4) When you upload can the commissioner manually confirm your file is on the server? This will establish a connection is certainly being made.
5) You said you tried new settings folder? Did you get a new... accountsdata_gms... I think it is? or did you get a whole new settings folder?
6) When you DLed the new league files what did you get? Did you get just .dats or did you get .dats and others?


I have had these problems myself and worked through them with GMs. Start with those questions.
Before you DL or try to replace anything else I would rename your current league then open it in the Load Game screen under the new name. I have had an uncommon problem in the past where I would rename, DL and unzip a new league with the old name and I swear OOTP opened the old league. I could be wrong but I would rather be paranoid.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Visited my IP store and simply exchanged the modem (without being upsold) and that seemed to get me back to where I was.

Frustrating, but glad I'm back in business (for my online leagues and the patches that keep coming).
