In the end, isn't hitting that "1" button for next pitch like playing a slot machine?

I spend hours reviewing my minor leagues and working out trades.
I invest heavily in highly qualified coaches up and down my minor league system.
I spend way too much money on the minor league system
I watch them mature and earn their spot in The Show.
I devise plans for when to relieve my starters, and which relievers to use.
I worry about balance in my fielders between their defensive abilities and their skill with the bat.
I freaking love this game and the nuances and the fact that the best laid plans don't always work.
Sometimes I sim several games, usually I play 1-pitch, sometimes I play pitch by pitch.

But, in the end, isn't hitting that "1" button for the next pitch - and hoping for a certain outcome- sort of like playing the slots and hoping for triple 7's?

Are we just gamblers forever sitting at the penny slots? (or, at least, am I?)

You might consider hitting "until RISP" instead if your strategy consists only of normal pitching. The game places your infield in DP depth with a runner on first automatically, so any important choices happen only with a runner at 2nd and/or 3rd. Is quicker, too.

Yes! You are right. Thankfully OOTP only costs me 40 bucks a year!

No. I've never narrated in my head while playing slots or video poker. Those little 3D pawns have arms and legs and bang up against the wall and make relays to home and balk in runs and bat flip as far as my brain is concerned.

To quote Dr. Frankenstein, "It's Alive!!!"

Heck, I don't even manage, I just spectate, so all I do is hit the number 1.....but I do change hands I've always thought it would be cool if along with the option to see how many hours you've played OOTP, if the game also tracked just how many time you've hit the #1

Pressing "1" is for suckers. What you need is a Steam Controller.

I play one-pitch mode so I use the "enter" key on the numeric keypad. It's much easier to reach than the "1" key.
