Long Term Game Cleanup

I've been playing my current save for several in-game years. Just wanted to know what the typical save file cleanup process was for everyone?

Thanks!

~20-50 years you may want to purge the dB. just make sure you don't remove anything you wanted... sounds simple, eh? easy to screw up

i think that's ~5-10k deleted players that don't make the majors.... on second thought, i only use 24 draft rounds and reduce other player creation quantities....

check after 10 years and see how many records it removes. if it's only a few hundred, wait longer next time.

always backup before purging. must purge to realize benefits of deleting players. not sure about cleaning up scouting reports... i like to keep that history, personally, but one more thing to look into.

deleting messages/news/transaction logs are another option... make sure you don't want it, first. if you change these settings (1year vs 10yr etc), it could take upto a year's cycle before it deletes old messages and such, depending on when you make the change.

you can delete more players before purging, if you want... say all with < 10AB ? if you do choose to delete some with mlb stats, just make sure not to be too cavalier... oyu don't want to delete a player with an MLB record, for example.

I am evolving my league by decades, roughly, so when I reach the end of the decade, before I add a new league, I make a full backup, then do a purge. I also delete useless free agents annually as some years seem to produce a squidillion of them.

I delete 1/2 star players who have never made it to the majors, game replays, old messages, box scores, and game logs.
