Question No Playoff Co-Champions

Sample: 1 division league, 8 teams, no playoffs.

At the end of the season, two teams are tied for the best record. OOTP automatically creates a tiebreaker game, and even if I delete the game, it just reschedules it for the next day.

Is there a way to force the end of the season with the two teams being co-champions instead of having the game?

I don't believe there is.

Oddly enough, earlier versions of OOTP would not schedule such a game.

I not believe there is, or would be as the way the history is setup there must be a winner.

Just like it most sports there is champion and a runner up.

The option to have a league with co-champs and the option for 'amateur' leagues that don't accrue service time are two minor things I hope to see (re-)introduced to OOTP someday.

OOTP doesn't do co-champions (but really it should have the option).

Wouldn't clicking the "Disable playoffs" button work?

I doubt it considering that tiebreaker game is considered a regular season game. They don't call it game 163 for nothing.

As far as I can tell, unfortunately it's impossible. I've tried too but it doesn't work.

That's also the reason why it's not possible anymore to skip a season or more without a game being played (to simulate breaks such as wars).
There's always that damn tie-breaker to spoil things.

Except baseball does have ties. It just tries to hide them.

And I believe in the past when teams tire their records against each other was considered the tie breaker

Not in the major leagues for standings purposes. Teams with the same record are considered tied for that position. (For determining the order of the amateur draft any standings tie is broken by looking at the previous season's record.)

As we recently discussed, head-to-head is used as a tiebreaker for seeding among division winners/wild cards, and for home field advantage in one-game playoffs. In the 8-team playoff era, it was used to determine the division champion if two teams tie for a division title and the wild card.

Yes, but that's only for post-season considerations. For any clubs not making the post-season, if they have the same record they are considered tied for that position. (I was referencing regular season standings for non-playoff clubs.)
