Very Odd play (in 3D)...
* bases loaded, pitcher at bat, no outs.
* batter bunts. * pitcher comes in to pick up bunt, tags runners from 3rd at home. * pitcher runs down batter and tags him out before he gets to 1st. * Unassisted double play by pitcher. Huh?

perhaps the batter thought it would be a foul ball and sat in batters box. LOL

Very odd indeed and I doubt by design that it should have happened.
A curious play I saw maybe thirty years ago was a batter hitting a grounder to the pitcher who in turn throws to the first baseman for what was a very close play. The first base umpire makes no signal of any kind, he quietly just stood there. I didn't know what was happening nor did the television commentator. The first baseman is looking for the signal as well. Because the runner's momentum takes him well beyond the bag he eventually stopped and walked back to it and stepped on it. Now the umpire gave the 'safe' signal. What had happened was neither the first baseman nor the runner actually touched the bag during the initial sequence and neither knew it, nobody did except the umpire! It was the right call by the umpire after all because he cannot tell both players while the runner is twenty feet from the bag, the first baseman is standing beside it, and the play is not over. There are still some glitches in 3D gameplay.
I was playing against the Reds and Billy Hamilton bunted the ball and ran towards first base. My catcher fielded the ball out in front of the plate, and with Hamilton already halfway to 1B, instead of throwing to the first baseman, the catcher RAN to 1B (picture the hilarious play in your mind with Billy Hamilton foot-racing a catcher -gear and all- to first base). The 3D engine was very obvious in slowing Hamilton down so that the catcher could beat him to the bag for an out. |

Heck, I've seen my catcher field a hit to CF!

I have seen infielders throw to second on a force play and throw the ball into the outfield. It still resulted in an out 2nd somehow.

Well, in all fairness, 3d is pretty new and I'm pretty sure they'll shake out most of the bugs in the next version or two.
