Have the morale issues been fixed?

Starting a new game and want to know if dealing with morale is less of a PITA. I hate having to figure out who the trouble maker is or having to find a captain with the only way of knowing being the hidden rating.

I'd love to have to worry about the morale dynamic, just don't want to play find the needle in the haystack.

I posted this on the Steam discussion boards.

You need to find the team cancers. You can locate this information in the scouting report at the very bottom of their mental makeup. Also look at their BNN page and look at their personality profile. The culprits are usually marked as lazy, selfish, players who "dog it". Usually they will have low marks in leadership, intelligence, loyalty and work ethic. While scoring high in greed. Once you find those players it is very wise to get rid of them. You will also need to find proven leaders to add onto your roster. They score high in leadership, work ethic, intelligence and loyalty. In the scouting report they will usually be labeled as leaders of the clubhouse. It is extremely important to have a handful of leaders on your team to calm down any rebellions in your clubhouse. I hope that helps and if you need anymore help don't hesitate to ask.

That's what I'm wanting to avoid. I shouldn't have to look at every BNN personality profile for key words. I'm a GM. I have a manager and a coaching staff. If they can't tell me who's the issue I've got bigger issues in my organization. I shouldn't have to read the scouting report for every player on my 40 man roster.

It sounds like the answer to my question is no, it hasn't been fixed.

On the one hand, in its current iteration and knowing you, it will provide more annoyance than reward. Turn it off.

On the other, realize it's the marginal influence that it is and treat the larger picture; don't sweat the details. For instance- I alluded to this in the other thread -I acquired, knowingly, a 'cancer.' Shortly thereafter, fired the existing and hired a new Bench Coach who didn't take any crap from anyone. Weeks into the season, troubles had ceased to exist. In fact, my player's description has even changed.

In the event the culprit was unknown, I'd have done one of two things: either the very same thing OR ignored it. The impact of a disgruntled email's contents and its correlation to any significant effect on my team are not relevant enough to merit a reaction from me. That's based on my style of management AND my knowledge of the game components. FWIW

I don't consider it a bug or a major issue, although I completely understand where you're coming from. Is it a pain in the butt? A little bit. The "quickest" way is going into the player list and customizing the view to show you the players with lack of intelligence, work ethic, loyalty etc. It will narrow your time to find them since it will only be a handful of players who will meet the low/very low scores.

Being around this long has its benefits. I appreciate you being upfront.

I've never had an issue with morale or clubhouse chemistry so I've never seen it as a problem that needed to be fixed. Is being a legendary manager a factor?

It's rare, but I just ran into it again. Problem is, I traded up for the 1st overall pick, grabbed a potential superstar who made it to the majors in a hurry and has played well. Problem: "Sooner or later he'll burn a clubhouse to the ground." Extremely low Leader and Loyalty, low Work Ethic, high Intelligence. I'm thinking about tweaking his loyalty up a smidge just to make it less of an issue because I like the morale option, but don't want to have to deal with the flood of emails.

Very good post. I made the mistake near the trade deadline of trading for a quality starter and a reliever from a contender to my .400 team. At least one of them if not both had a high 'desire for winning...'. For years I thought that was a good thing, that the player personally has a high desire to win and gave that extra effort. Only recently it was pointed out to me that it meant it was important to the player to be on a winning team. Even though my team win rate was .400 at the time of trade, morale was never a problem. After the trade, around roster expansion, my entire clubhouse was in disarray with morale issues.

As a side note, another poster commented that a controlling bench coach helps to keep trouble makers in line as well.
