Independent League
From what I have read in the forums, development depends on playing. So is there a way to set up Independent League(s) so that the players not with an affiliated organization still develop? In the league I just started (ML, AAA, AA, A, SS-A, R, College & HS) I have over 1,000 free agents. This seems like a vast pool of players who need to be playing to develop or bust.
I read where create an Independent League and at the end of each season release all players back to free agency. A week into the regular season have a free agent draft for all the Indy Clubs. Any thoughts? |

Could you accomplish the same thing by doing 'Winter Ball' from November to February?

Technically I don't think development actually does depend on playing, you'll still see guys get dev boosts even while sitting in the fa pool.
That being said, it is much more fun to have them playing, and either of the ideas you suggested would certainly work very well. Which you use is just a matter of personal preference. |

I have a question....when you fire up the quickstart using independent leagues, why are so many players suspended? I'm talking teams with 3 of the 5 pitchers in their rotation suspended for extended lengths of time. Just curious.

Hmm, not sure. Can you give a specific example rather than just a generality?

When I tried the independent leagues, my interest was managing the Traverse City Beach Bums. If I remember right, at least 2 if not 3 of their starting rotation were suspended. Last edited by David Watts; 08-10-2016 at 11:41 AM. |

EDIT: Actually there are a couple guys out on teams like Florence, Windy City and Washington, but it's not with suspensions, just injuries. Plus it's literally only two guys per team, and not all SP's either. So I guess more specific names are needed after all. Sorry about that, but I just can't even begin to recreate your issue in the least

There are literally none for me, at all, in any indy league that I've checked, which is pretty much all of them. That's both with using the Quickstart and the Default options to start leagues that include all of the US Indys. So some specifics as to teams and names would be helpful, as a means to track down whatever seemingly semi-random bug is cropping up here. I don't doubt that there's a bug, but if no one else can re-create it, or barring more specifics I'm not sure how anyone can fix the issue. |

Something to think about, there are so many development and Indy leagues that a player can play in to develop that it is unreasonable to add them all. Indy leagues can also slow the game down so one may not want to add them. You can assume some of the free agents are actually playing in a "ghost" league that isn't represented in the game. That's why players should still develop as free agents

Plus I'm looking through the source db that holds the info on all the players and there are no suspensions set for Indy League guys, Traverse City or otherwise.
So if this is happening it's truly a genuine bug, but without more info it's likely to be impossible to track down and squash. |
