Setting up a fictional game
So I want to set up a game based in the southern hemisphere with mainly New Zealand and Australian teams. One issue I'm having is setting out the dates for trade deadlines, drafts etc. The season will be set in summer down south, so starting around spring time. What is a good way to work out deadlines for trades and drafts etc. Essentially I want to try and mimic the MLB but probably with shorter seasons, but everything else similar like minor leagues, drafts, signings etc Any hints, tips or suggestions?

Would it be better to start the second week of January, perhaps? It leads to a short season, but it avoids having a season span multiple calendar years.

This is exactly what I do. I have: (a) major league level with 12 teams, 126 game schedule that starts first Friday in October, finishes late Feb or early March.
(b) AAA league with 96 game schedule, starts first Friday in November. (c) AA level with 88 games, also starts first Friday in November. (d) A level with 64 games, starts first Fri in December. I do the draft pre season on 1 September and set the trade deadline to 31 Jan, about one month before regular season end. Let me know if you have any more questions, happy to share anything that might help. Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk |
