Need Help, so i can buy the game

I am completely stumped! For some reason I cannot load the game at all. After installing, I click the exe and it tries to load, but doesn't

Windows XP
AMD XP 2200 (1.8ghz)
Direct X 9
GeForce 4 Ti 4200
512 DDR ram

I obviously have the specs..afterall I can run Metal of Honor or Battlefield 1942 fine...

But I noticed, after I double click the icon my processor seems to max out (like in the photo below)

Also, I cannot play the demo. The same thing happens..it tries to run, my cpu usage hit 100% and then it just cancels out....

I'm going to reformat my computer and reinstall XP tomorrow, because I was having problems recently, but I don't understand why I would be able to play games like HH2K3, but can start this...

I really desire help if any is available, I'm looking forward to playing this game! thx

for the record OOTP3 won't run and does the same thing as well
and i tried reinstalling OOTP5 and it didn't help

Hi PM, you're from the old High Heat Central right? Long time no see

Anyway, not sure if it will help, but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling again? When I first ran the game for the first time it said I needed to reboot and install an updated "elicense control panel applet" before I could continue, maybe something is hanging. And are you connected to the internet when you run the exe?

Like I said, not sure it any of this will help, just trying to throw out some ideas..

I wouldn't worry about the 100% cpu usage. My system is very similar to yours with p4 instead of amd. I know Tournament Dreams College BB from .400 shoots it right up to 100 and it runs with no problems, I assume ootp5 does the same. Even so I can still surf the net while they are running with no problems. Other than that I'm afraid I can't be any help.

I've tried lots of things and appreciate your ideas, but I'm still getting nothing

And thanks for the info on the CPU Sweed. I now notice it runs high when i start most programs. I thought it might be related to the CPU because I just had problems just recently with it, I was worried it was a hardware issue.

I'm going to try it on another computer now. But I still need it to work on this one..

Do you think completely gutting my hard drive and reinstalling my OS will do any good? I plan to do that tomorrow after I drive to school to get my drivers and XP.....

have you tried to redownload it? I'd reformat and reinstall your OS. Its worth a try.

i will do it, because i really think i will like this game, but man! what a hassle...i only have 20 of my 80 gigs taken, but starting over is such a pain...

i did redownload, and probably will reformat tomorrow...thx for the help...i'll let you know how it goes

Also, have you run Windows update lately? if not, try updating first, before you format.

Well I reformatted (twice!), and magically on the second time it seems to work....very weird..

Yeah, that is weird.. glad you got it working though and enjoy the game. btw, do you plan on getting High Heat for the PC this year and/or doing any mods for it? I loved your vet stadium mod you did awhile back, although I know the mods for this years version are still up in the air (needs to be cracked).

I haven't decided whether I will buy it or not....like many, I think I will wait for the reviews..

But surley, if I do I will most likely take a crack at a stadium or two. I enjoyed making the few stadiums that I did, the Vet was cool. I remember that I recorded a game between the Braves and Phillies to work on it. Its fun, and now I seem to have more free time than ever. I'm in college now and no longer working, so I seem to have more free time than ever!

So I will certainly give the Vet, and a few others that the main stadium editors don't hit first, a shot, if I buy the game, and if course they figure out how to crack the file.

Everything seems to be working fine now. I'm just trying to figure out importing rosters and everything now..guess I'll check the FAQ.
