Find a player
Am I missing something, or is there no way to use this option to search for gap or avoid K? And if so, is there any way this can be added to the search?
If I use MLB player list obviously I can find it there, but if I want to find a specific player by contact/avoid K/gap/power etc, I'm currently unable to do that. Is it possible to add this into the next patch? I can't imagine it's a difficult addition. I'd much rather be able to search by gap/avoid K than speed or stealing, for instance. There should be a way to do it in the find a player option. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see it. |

Bump. I'm trying to figure out why I can't search for avoid K or gap in the find a player. Could we at least get a drop down menu for some skills? I have no interest in searching by speed for instance, but I'd love to be able to find players who have a specific level of contact/avoid K etc.
If we could have find a player updated to search for avoid K, and gap, and potentially other skills - I would love to be able to search for current skills vs RHP - that would be great. As someone who loves to platoon this would save me a ton of time if find a player could filter currents vs RHP, vs LHP, or just overall. So, avoid K, gap, and platoon splits vs RHP and vs LHP. Can this be done? |

If you want to search by other items, I'd suggest using the filters. The find players is meant for the basics and most common search items, and I would wager more people want to search by speed (ie. find me a pinch runner) than by gap.

The filters aren't nearly as effective as the find a player option. Would it be possible for you to at least consider making it a drop down menu, if not for the next patch, then for OOTP 18? I think this is a reasonable request, something that is fairly simple and doesn't require coding, that can have a massive impact.
I really don't like the filters, and have stopped using them because of how effective the find a player option is. This would be the pitcher equivalent of saying "Most people don't care what control is, so we're not going to let you search for it". Maybe I'm in the minority of people who would care about avoid K, but I believe you could very easily add it and make a dramatic impact on finding players of more specific skillsets. Gap/avoid K are still major stats for a hitter, and we should be able to search it easier. Last edited by ThePretender; 07-25-2016 at 07:10 PM. |

I wouldn't mix stats with ratings, though. For example, any relevant batter rating (BABIP, Avoid K, Contact, Gap, Power, Eye, Speed, Steal, Baserunning, Fielding Ratings, Position Ratings) should be searchable, while any statistical result (Platoon splits vs RHP/LHP, HRs, Steals, PAs, ZR, etc.) should be filterable on the appropriate screens. [SIDEBAR] For a quick plug for the Commish editor search capability, a Commish in "God Mode" just monitoring a league might be interested in searching for players by detailed ratings, to see how the ratings are translating to statistical results based on the best/worst of a given kind of rating. If a League gets K crazy due to an extreme influx of pitchers with great Stuff, searching for how well high Avoid K do in that league environment might be extremely useful. [/SIDEBAR] |

custom view so you have all the same info on one page, then sort by the rating that makes the most sense relative to context. pick through the few at the top you can see with your peripheral have the right colors you want for the other ratings of interest.
remove crap from sight that isn't important. much easier to scan. relative to context: possibly the most important one... whatever provides the shortest amount of players to scan through. and this would only apply to any particular metric in 'views' that is not something you can filter - like contract demands. so you filter the others of interest, then sort by contract demand.
