I should be fired

I started a new 2016 Game. I took over the Tigers as GM (Although I playout all games). I fired Brad Ausmus by early May. We are now 14 - 30 with the worst offense in the AL, least amount of HRs, and 2nd worst Starting rotation.

Are the Tigers really that bad in this game, or is it just me? Should I start updating my resume?

I started an online league with them and started off very similar. Although it was pitching not offense that lacked. I ended with the 3rd worst record

You must be playing my file! My record is putrid and I have had to deal with a boatload of injuries as well. (Of course I play realistic modern day with injuries so no complaints, just an observation) looks like I will be tearing the team down and starting a massive rebuild!

They have no pitching and few prospects. Get rid of the terrible contracts, when possible. As soon as you can do this, you will be golden. even a somewhat middling market size can support a large payroll.

Yeah, did you see ausmus give up all those runs the other day... i can't believe he took it upon himself to play the field liek that... and all the positions! that must be a record.

i was all for chasing gardenhire, but maybe he didn't want the tigers... i wouldn't have knowing their roster as well as i do.

wouldn't complain much the Tigers are bad in real life. I being a Tigers fan am the harshest critic of their moves especially when it related to Verlander (more so) and Victor Martinez. Verlander is a 10/5 player now and overpaid same for Victor too. Both of their contracts will hurt the team in a HUGE way. learned how badly via this game. I traded everyone including minors in order to improve my 2016 team. Took me till early 2017 to trade Verlander (WHEW) Victor I was able to release him gambling someone would take him and that worked out 2 game months later.

If you release a player and another team picks him up are you off the hook for his contract in OOTP?

I'm pretty sure it's the same as IRL. Another team would have to claim him in order to be off the hook.

When a team claims him and the claim is executed then that team takes over contract

But you're talking about waive & designate correct? Not outright releasing him? I believe the other poster said he released him.

Out right release him.... waive and designate I will trade to that team who claimed him and take a decent minor leaguer if I can
