First round draft picks not signing contracts...
Can someone enlighten me on why this happens? Had some top ten players in my league not sign a contract before the cutoff date. A bit puzzling that a team would draft a player so high and not sign them.

Granted in real life, a team would do their homework on a top draft pick to see if they would sign, but I don't think that is coded in the game yet. |

I sometimes do this but if it's a weak class of draftees then I draft a guy who is impossible to sign just to get the extra comp pick for next year

Why would it matter if a player is impossible to sign or not? Even if he was very easy to sign, couldn't you simply not make him an offer?

Guys who are listed as Impossible to sign will break off negotiations with you if you make them a low offer, then you get the compensation pick because they didn't sign.
