Restoring player from DL to active roster

I don't think this problem I am having is a bug, rather it is that I don't know the roster management rules...

I placed a player on the 60 day DL and now in the offseason I am unable to activate him. He has an expiring ML contract but I cannot see anyway to move him somewhere where the game will let me continue to the next day.

The disabled list does not work during the off-season. He has to be placed on an active roster.

I tried to move him to the active roster but get the popup message: The player is not on the Secondary (40 man) roster, cannot be activated. But I can't find the way to add him to the 40 man. All the transaction options are to activate, demote, wave or release.

Sounds like the 40 man is full, check the 40 man and if full drop someone from it to get the DL player on to the 40 man/active roster

Sorry, should have mentioned that I do have space available on the 40 man roster.

Maybe this is a bug?

And thanks for all the quick replies! Y'all are great at helping us newbies!

In the rosters and transactions page drag and drop him to the 40 man roster since he is not on it. After that drag and drop him to the active roster.

I know the 40-man roster is the active roster in the offseason. Just give it a try.

Most likely the 40-man roster is full. You have to designate someone and add the recovered player.

He says he has room. If so then drag and drop on the 40-man roster should work every time. Once on the 40 everything else should work.

I saw the previous post. I started typing that reply earlier but didn't submit it until after.

The dropdown menu for that situation really needs to have the Add to Secondary option made available. It's a senseless step to have to change screens in order to accomplish this task.

Just found the problem. The active roster had 36 players on it but the 40-man roster was full. By changing the roster on the drop-down menu I was ale to add him to the proper list. I assumed active and 40 man were the same during the offseason but once I looked closer I found the difference.

Thanks for your help everyone! RchW your reply gave me the hint to look closer to the different rosters.

Technically, in OOTP, it's not. The active roster is the size of the expanded roster, and players on the 40 can be in the minor leagues.
