Pretty cool. Does anyone know the last time this happened in MLB? I know Roy Halladay threw a couple of 10-inning complete games but I can't remember a pitcher going 11 in the recent past.

Baseball-Reference tells me that the last complete game of 11+ innings in MLB was thrown by Oakland's Dave Stewart (now the Arizona GM) on August 1, 1990. He beat the Mariners 1-0.
Erik Hanson threw 10 scoreless for Seattle, but didn't come out for the 11th after throwing 122 pitches. Stewart threw 129 - both pretty efficient totals. This is also the last time anyone's thrown 11 innings, starter or reliever. The last time anyone threw 10 innings was Cliff Lee for the 2012 Phillies. Last edited by Ruwisc; 06-26-2016 at 01:26 PM. |
