Importing Historical Minor League Players

I have read alot about the difficulties of setting up a league with historical minor league players when you have fictional leagues or teams in your game world. I know it is possible to import individual historical minor league players into the FA pool (because I just tried). Is it possible to do this with an entire draft class (into either free agency or into the draft itself)? So I can have a fictional league with real players being imported to be signed or drafted by whichever team picks them up?

Can you please explain how you did this? The field doesn't allow for the final 2 characters to even be entered, and I've tried using a text file import but they don't appear in this case either.

This is the #1 thing missing from my OOTP 17 experience and would love to have some clarity and learn more about it's status!

Upon further review, I don't think I'm doing exactly what I thought I was, but it is successfully importing players.

I went to the FA Pool, clicked import historical player, selected the minor league database when asked. Derek Jeter was my test, so I put in jeterde01 and entered 1993 as my season year.

What happens is it imports a 19-year old Derek Jeter (this is before he was in the majors) and he has no stats. His current ratings don't match his potential, so I just assumed this was the Jeter from the minors DB.

If you look in his player editor tab, that's his "Historical ID", NOT "Historical Minors ID". This has always been an available function - manually importing a player in the database in a different year than they've actually debuted.

The test is to pick someone who never made the pros - their editor page will tell you they only have a Historical Minors ID. When you try and import, you can select the proper DB but the minors ID has 2 extra characters in it that you can't enter in the field, and as I mentioned before, the import .txt option doesn't seem to work either.

It's taken me a month to do a workaround to get the real minor league players and their stats into my Southern Association dynasty replay.

Once I figure out how to get my logos, jerseys and caps in the game, I will be set to go.

Spritze is right... you can't import minor league players with their stats from the Lahman database... I had to create a free agent, then edit his ratings using the player editor... took me 30 hours to just create 200 players.... I turned off scouting, turned off player development and made the potential player ratings the same as the current ones... each new season I will have to adjust each player's ratings based on what he did in that specific season.

It has worked well in my test leagues... but took a while to get the league stats right where I wanted them... most of the league totals were very accurate... but I had to adjust double plays frequency, strikeouts, base on balls, hit by pitches in the league modifiers... and position modifiers to get the league fielding average down to .968 FA... the default settings gave me .982 FA.

Should we be passing this issue up the chain of command here? I think this is something we might want to be vocal about.

It was bug reported early in OOTP 17 Beta but may be a bigger deal than we think since it was set to be updated in a future version (OOTP18).

I will drag it to the top of the list in the bug report tool but please be as vocal as you need to be.

Every mention I've made or have read about hasn't been addressed. If it's not going to be addressed until '18, I'd rather be told that than sit here in the dark about it.
