Still no AI trades

Not a single AI trade has been made in a couple different leagues I've initiated.

I play historical with historical transactions off, no finances, no minors, reserve rosters held to 15, and now with trades on easy and high frequency.

In draft leagues, I figured the AI was satisfied with the drafted setup and just stayed put, achieving player needs through each year's draft, even after multiple seasons.

In a historical league beginning in 2008, I figured the AI was feeding off the free agent list as I noted numerous transactions (signings and releases - again, no finances and reserve rosters held to 15). But no trades - even on easy.

Anybody have further thoughts on this? Thanks.

Are these thoughts reasonable?

I have had very few AI trades made in one of my leagues, but very few is more than none. I tested it with all different trade settings and there were still very few trades.

I would have expressed more concern, but in another universe of mine there have been what I would consider the "right" amount of AI trades, so I chalked it up to teams just not willing to part with assets.

There should be some deals. Make sure that trading is actually enabled in the league, and that the trade deadline is set at a reasonable time. Trading difficulty won't impact AI-AI trades.

But otherwise, I'm really not sure how you can literally have zero trades unless if they have somehow been disabled.

Since you are playing historical with transactions off, would that not allow trades to be made?

Thanks for the responses. Trading is enabled and set to July 31. I've pulled off a few trades with my own team and receive the usual news write-up about it, but no trades otherwise at all.

Many signings and same day releases of free agents on the AI teams, so I'm going to try increasing the reserve roster size.

I saw this problem with an earlier version. (I thought I was crazy, too.) But after the latest patch or two, the problem has gone away.

Are you using the most recent version?

No effect from Update #7

I would think downloading today's update would correct and cover up any corrupt files I might have concerning trades. Nope. No trades.

I played through 2010 with my historical league, no finances, no minors, trading enabled, trades on very easy and very high frequency, offseasons before and after 2010 played, trading deadline of July 31. No trades.

It appears the AI is content shuffling in and out free agents - to the extreme. For example, Steven Pearce was signed and released by the Marlins for each of the 31 days of January 2011. The other teams do similar.

Shouldn't there be some trades? Or is it the way I set up the league?

I'm seeing a bunch of trades every year in my fictional MLB. It was a fictional historical game created in OOTP 16 and imported over though.

Not sure why you would be having this issue, but I remember hearing it randomly happening to a few others as well a few months back.

The sign and release issue can come up if you have tight roster limits, but still would expect some trades.

Please send us your league files (How to FTP files to OOTP Developments - Powered by Kayako Help Desk Software) and we can investigate to see what's going on.

Do you still have reserve rosters limited to 15? I'm almost sure that is what's causing your Steven Pearce problem. May even be causing the trade issues. I started using unlimited reserve rosters a few versions back when I started seeing guys get drafted and released a few days later. Before they ever even suited up. Studs too.

Same problem

I am running the latest version, just started a new MLB quick start and simmed through October 2018 and not one single trade.

All default settings.

I had this problem when 17 first came out and the only way I could fix it was to uninstall the game and start over. I had imported my v16 league over and something went wrong so any game I started would not have any AI trades. This may not be the same thing but you could try uninstalling the game (unlicense first) and reinstall. You will also want to move any of your saved games to a different location if you are attached to them.

I wasn't ever able to load up one of the saved games as it appears they were all corrupted but I was able to make a template. I spent almost an entire weekend in March messing with this and this was the only way I could make it work. The developers may be able to look at your file and fix it another way so you could wait. Good luck.

This was my last post about it back in March:

It appears that it actually had something to do with my save file. Once I did the re-install, a generic league worked fine but when I moved my saved game back to the clean folder and restarted it, I could no longer get trades to work even if I started another fresh league. I eventually had to delete and re-install again this morning. I was able to create a template of the jacked up file and use that without issue so at least I was able to use the structure with the setup I wanted without having to do that over.

Same issue here ...didn't realize it until this was brought up. Was too focused on my team as nearing playoffs

OK you can delete my last comment. Once the season ended I had several trades occur. Was after August in game when I updated and there were only 2 trades that occurred that made it through waviers and one of them was mine. So things are working just fine.

I deleted everything, did a fresh install and ran 2 test leagues last night and trades seem to be working again.

I haven't brought in my saved game yet; at the airport now and will give it a go at 30,000 feet.

No trades still a problem

So what about my leagues where there's never an AI trade made? I left a link to dropbox for my historical league on the OOTP17 general discussion page a few days ago and there's been no comments or suggestions from you guys. What do I do?

Give us time to look into it You uploaded files on Friday, it's only Monday, and it was hot and sunny all weekend for me in Toronto. I'll try to get to it today or tomorrow.

I opened up the file, simmed a day, and saw a bunch of trades. Did it a few more times in a few different ways, and each time, there were a ton of moves. I'm trying to scratch my head as to how I could see trades, and yet obviously I see in your file the last trade was over a year ago.

So I'm really not sure what to say. The main things that can really stop the league from trading would be:
-trading disabled
-teams have the "prevent AI roster changes" checked
-teams are set to be human

I can't really think of anything else that could cause your problems, and as I said, I loaded it up and it processed trades with no issues.
