Exclamation OOTP 17 Update #7 PUBLIC BETA, Version 17.9.57 Available!

Important: This BETA update is only for OOTP 17 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version.
It is NOT compatible with the Steam or Mac OSX AppStore version! Once the beta is confirmed to be stable, the Steam & Mac AppStore versions will follow.

Good morning!

We have been working hard on the next update, and we're close to officially releasing it. However, since we did so many changes and tweaks, we'd like to give it a public test ride first. Once it is confirmed that it is stable and does not screw anything up, the update will be officially released (including Steam & Mac AppStore & Linux versions).

Since this is a beta, please use on your own risk! It should be stable, but if you want to make sure, please back up your league files.

Here is the complete changelist (compared to update #6, version 17.8):
- Improved 2016 MLB roster sets, for example error corrections, added lots of player histories, fine-tuned international league rules (need to start new game for changes to apply)
- Improved 3D Animations (foul balls, cutoff relays, ground balls etc.)
- Updated 3D infielder positioning
- Modified fatigue calculations for relievers
- Improved trading AI speed
- Improved free agent AI and free agent AI speed
- Adjusted trade AI for injured players
- Fixed case where inaugural draft demands were wrong if playing with 0 ratings value AI evaluation
- Fixed problem where text data was not uploaded in online league file
- Fixed underflow case if league stats modifiers were incorrectly specified
- Fixed case where extreme high scoring games can continue forever
- Fixed bug where coach list filter items were causing application to exit
- Fixed budget calculations if using a hard salary cap
- Fixed finances for rescheduled games that switched home teams
- Clarified warmup for RTS games
- Unaffiliated college teams no longer give pro service to players
- Fixed several small bugs and cosmetic issues

Update Info: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Please let us know in this thread if there are any issues with the beta.

Thank you very much for your support!

What about infielder defensive ratings for historical leagues 1954 and prior. Right now every 2B, SS and 3B is rated 50. Every 1B rated 45. Will this be fixed? Has the historical minors issue been dealt with, so players go to their correct teams when the Pacific Coast League gets formed in 1921? Does Lou Gehrig still disappear?

Are the roster updates on just the 2016 season? Are there updates to the historical database as well? Just wondering if I should restart my past seasons as well.

I believe the defensive ratings issue should be fixed - I thought that was even in the last patch but maybe it didn't make it in.

The other one I'm not sure - I don't think any changes have been made there.

If I'm fairly deep into a league without the latest update should I wait until the official release or try to beta? I want to be a team player, but I worry about using beta's with a league I've backed up, but don't want to get messed up.

I'm also not tech saavy so I really don't know whether it would screw it up or not...hypothetically, it could of course be a flawless beta!

The last patch fixed outfielders, but left the infielders at 50.

Any change to the way the AI is processing the top prospects lists? since it was broken in the last update? I understand it is a relatively cosmetic thing, but for people like me that want ultra realism its important. Plus its a great tool for slight tweaks of the best prospects' ratings in comparison to each other.

I have a temporary fix....check the ratings relative to box. You should be fine there...however, if you don't want to use that feature, uncheck it again, and the lists should be fixed and in correct order.

Does this fix the math problem in the Extensions information screen where cash is not included in the calculation, even though it is shown as "+" in the screen? This affects how much $ you have for extensions.

but that doesn't fix the AI putting more value on a AAA 1 star guy who is nearer his overall numbers than a A 5 star guy who is still raw does it?

Infielder ratings are fine, just tested this here with the beta. Keep in mind that the fielding ratings are not calculated relative to the year, but rather in a broad historical context. So a 70 / 80 SS is already something special.

When the PCL gets formed player who have not been part of the saved game will be imported and assigned properly, others that already existed will remain where they are. This is by design.

Lou Gehrig disappearing? Never heard that issue before.

Lou Gehrig if you have a draft gets drafted and dropped on Christmas, along with lots of other good players. Some get signed by big league teams, other sign with minor league teams.

If you turn the draft off and have players go to their real teams, Lou Gehrig disappears never to be seen again.

If that's how the PCL works following this patch, I will be very happy. Once Spritze let me know that you have to limit minor league active rosters to 25 the PCL did fill up with players. Much much better than playing 3 or 4 years with only the Los Angeles Angels having players.

Glad to hear fielding has been fixed. I understand a 70 is special. That's why I couldn't play when every if every single infielder was going to ranked 50. Doing that was like attempting to convince myself that Brooks Robinson, Ozzie Smith, Mark Belanger and Tom Veryzer never even played the game.

There were tweaks done to the calculations, so they should be better than last patch.

Using 3D view, Short PbP: the 3D animation now begins before things like season stats and substitutions are shown in the PbP window. I know in previous versions, the animation would not begin until after these kind of things had appeared.

Example:
SUBSTITUTION... (Animation Begins Now after a short 3-5 sec delay)
Now pitching for St. Louis: LHP JIm Bough.
He is 12-9, with a 3.77 ERA...
striking out 178 in 198.1 innings pitched.
Tobar digs in to face the left hander...
he's gone 1 for 2...
with one double. (Animation used to begin here)
2-2 Pitch: Ground out 3-1 (Groundball, 34)...

This also happens at the very beginning of games as well with the PbP stopping after the first line (Welcome to...) until the animation begins and then it continues on with the weather information and starting pitcher statistics.

I'm seeing this as well. There are weird delays now and sometimes the ball isn't making it all the way to the fielder. But I'm loving the new error animations (bad throws, etc)!

How about ye olde "ability to move labels in 3D layout?"

Scouting craters Lou Gehrig's Current ratings on 1/1 after he is drafted #1 overall on 12/15. His Potentials remain high. He then gets released even with high potentials.

I tested this again in a different year and it happens to Ernie Banks too.

Potential does not seem to count for much.

There is a PT on this named "Weird Sign and Release" problem.
