Game repeatedly freezes (not responding) randomly

Ever since I installed OOTP17 the game has crashed repeatedly at random times. The screen freezes and has to be force closed. Here is the error info from windows:

Sorry about the problems.

When you've noticed these issues with the game hanging, do you know what you were doing? Was it while playing out games in 3D mode, or while clicking "finish today", or at some other time? Do you get the same issues on the same date, or does it tend to happen more "randomly"?

If you can let us know more information about what was happening when you encountered the problem, that can help us track it down.

In the meantime, you can also try disabling the threading (File -> Settings -> Number of helper threads set to 0), and that will often cause less issues, however you game will tend to run slower. Ideally if we can find the problem, we can fix it for the next patch.

It seems fairly random. The game has crashed once during play on a 3-d ballpark screen, but I don't often play games this way. The vast majority of the freezes occur randomly on normal screen like the schedule or the lineups.

I have noticed recently that it tends to occur if I switch tasks to something else and come back to the program later. Since I have noticed that, I have started minimizing the program before multi-tasking to other applications and it seems to keep it from happening.

I think I am having the same problem. Just happened actually. This time I had left the game sitting idle long enough for my screen to go into power save mode. When I tried to go back and pick up where I left off it was frozen. I've done that before without issue.

Other times it happened during the middle of a play in 3d mode..right after the ball bounced off the wall and the fielder threw the ball it froze. The other time I remember it happened when a pitch was half way between the mound and home plate. Always in 3d mode for me.

Also, for me it's always after I have been playing for awhile. It rarely if ever freezes after a game or two.
