Multiple Rookie Leagues
I apologize if this has been discussed but what is the best way to handle teams with multiple rookie leagues (short of consolidating them). I don't usually play "real" leagues and have always just stuck to fictional leagues with 5 levels so I'm at a bit of a loss now that I am trying to take over the Braves with their 3 rookie teams.
Is there a hierarchy among these teams? For example should the Appalachian team have a higher caliber of player than the Gulf Coast or Dominican? I'm trying to play as GM only so I don't really want to designate this to my assistant as then I wouldn't have much to do. Definitely out of my comfort zone of GM & Manager of a fictional team here... Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

Yes, the Appalachian & Pioneer leagues are the highest tier of rookie leagues. Then the Gulf Coast and Arizona leagues. The foreign rookie leagues usually have the youngest players and are the bottom tier of the minor leagues. Under League Settings/Players you'll see player creation modifiers. If two leagues are at the same level, the AI will prioritize them based on which one has the higher modifiers. That's why the AI knows that the Carolina Mudcats are in a higher league than the Rome Braves, for example. |

As a general rule, I do it so that highly-regarded draft picks and picks from college will be placed on a short-season A or Appy/Pioneer league team, and the high school players and roster fillers go onto the complex league team. The Dominican league is for Hispanic international FAs and international complex graduates. I believe this structure mirrors what teams do in real life.
If I have a super-duper-star draft pick out of college I might start him in my Midwest or Sally League team. Maybe. If he's got 5-star potential and was lights out in college. I mean, what's a guy like that going to learn in Billings? (No actual offence intended to Billings. I'm sure it's a lovely place.)
