Stats Only: How to evaluate players in international complex?

I've decided to go stats only (with only secondary ratings showing such as speed, defense, etc.) and so far its been fun. Now the international period has begun. I've signed a few and allowed my scout to take over. Easy enough.

Then I look at the players sitting in the international complex. No stats. I know the players automatically get promoted at 20 but in the past I have looked at ratings to decide if I want to promote early. What do other stats only players do? Do you just wait until they are 20? Do you even put money into international players?

if they are well-rated, nearly all will be fine by 18. if you want to be safe you can wait until 19/20. use what you saw in teh past when you used ratings... how often did a well-rated player have to wait longer than 18 to be good enough for your rookie league? i don't even think i have a memory of one - but i'm sure it can happen.

the really poor players aren't going to make your majors anyway... so, no big deal if you move them early. they are future trash bin players.

I've never had luck with signing international players. Even when I used ratings. I've signed a handful of highly rated players to big bonuses and they all flame out rather quickly.

So really.....I can't do any worse than that lol

Thanks for the advice.

Move them to the rookie leagues at age 17 or 18. They'll develop faster in real competition, and you'll start getting stats.

I totally agree. They get exposed to the Rule 5 Draft sooner this way, but it's not that big of a deal. Players develop fine if you send them to rookie ball at 17/18.

Good thought about bringing them up to rookie ball early. They will also be younger (assuming expected rate of development) when they turn our in the Majors so you'll have more longevity since they will play longer before age and the decline of abilities sets in.
