Game locks up - no error

In the latest patch, I have had the game just lock up twice on my Mac. No error, no nothing. It just...freezes. Always while playing the game and may have clicking a button on the keyboard, but not sure.

You can't click to go to any other screens? In a previous version there have been bugs where the controls disappear, but if you switched to broadcast view and back, it would "reset" things for you.

Using the latest version (17.7.53) on my Mac, the game froze. Everything looked normal except the control panel. The sound was still on, but the control panel was blank and nothing responded to any clicks or keys. Ultimately had to force quit OOTP 17.

This is exactly what happened to me. Had to force quit OOTP. Has happened twice since the new patch in the first 2 games I've played.

This exact issue has happened to me multiple times on my Windows laptop as well. Never happened before the latest patch.

For anyone that has had this happen, do you remember what would have triggered this? Did you simply click to continue the game, or was there something else that clicked?

Also, while in this frozen state, in your task manager, does the OOTP process show that it's using CPU power or not? That can help us figure out in what state it got stuck in, if it is actively trying to process or passively waiting for something.

I haven't risked trying it again, but I think I remember it using CPU power. And I didn't do anything in particular to trigger it -- I clicked to continue the game after a play and the screen just froze and gave me the "not responding" spinning wheel.

I don't remember exactly. I remember it was in the middle of the game, no substitution or anything.

I didn't check top to see if it was sucking up resources. Didn't seem to be.

Same thing is happening to me, the game just freezes and I get a not responding. Windows 7 64 bit, I just hit the quick play ab-bat button.

I created a dump file but it's 1.5 gigs

I used to get temporary freezes where the ball would then come all the way in from the outfield, like the game was trying to draw a double hit to the out field, but it would not completely freeze like this.

I've been playing it for the last 30 minutes or so and couldn't get it to happen (because I was trying to I'm sure ). I'll keep my eye out for it.

same issue here with newest patch using Mac...with and without sound enabled. Only clicking "continue" for the next play/pitch and game freezes. Twice so far in playing out about 8 games or so.

I think I found a pattern. I just had it happen and the pitcher was just coming up to batting. I can't remember what happened before it (I think it was a strikeout) but it advances to the pitcher and the screen freezes.

Same thing on a windows machine two straight games in three D. Checked to make sure drivers up to date. They are. Was warming up a pitcher when it happened the second time. Standard at bat the first. Nothing seemed unusual.

Hmmm. I didn't have a pitcher coming to the plate the second time, but was warming one up. I might have had a pitcher at the plate the first time though. Was at the end of the end of the line up.

Odd. Played a couple of games last night and had no problems.

And it happened again. This time I reduced the screen and let it sit for ten minutes and went and did something else. When I came back it was fine. No pitcher warming up. No pitcher at the plate. Still, it's a little much. No more OOTP for me tonight, I think.

Since this last patch OOTP 17 has locked up twice on me during games (and they were games I was ahead in &*^%$# )!. No warning just a lock up and during playing out the games. No other common factor.

I might have to put this down until the next patch. When it happens again I'll check task manager for processes.

This is on a Windows desktop. Never crashed before. Waited a full minute while it was in frozen state before closing it down.

One pitch mode playing in 3d view. I'll try it again in broadcast view.

This. Just froze again for the 3rd time. It is using CPU power. Each time it's happened trying to play the same game.

Also, when it does this, and you reboot the game, the pitchers lose a day of rest, in that pitch counts from the previous game now are shown as pitches today.

Might be because I had PC laptop connected to my 32" LCD. Didn't hook it up last night, had no problems playing games. So maybe it's a screen maximization thing. No time to test now; it's bedtime.

I don't use warmup rules, so no pitchers warming up for me. I did check TOP and the CPU is 100% so something is going on in the code.
