Rescuing a prospect

I discovered an interesting thing that happened in an MLB league I'm playing, apparently the AI jacked around a pitching prospect and almost ruined him. I've got my GM settings to allow minor league managers to sign and release minor league free agents, and they picked up Jason Spillan who's a pitcher in A+ at age 25 now.

What messed him up is that he was drafted as a pitcher, was rated well, and then for some reason the Blue Jays tried to convert him to be a third baseman (?)

He didn't do well, and he never actually gained any ability at third base. He was released, picked up by the Mariners, released again, and my guys grabbed him and he was still disgruntled, and I discovered he was originally a pitcher, so I converted him back. I'm looking forward to seeing if he can recover from this debacle and join my MLB staff someday.

Looks like he could be a pretty good pitcher if he can rescue his career.

He ended up advancing quickly and was brought up in the 9/1 roster expansion (in a league that evolved to a 38-person extended roster, so he earned it).

he still has 2-3 years of development left. he's got time.

the manual lists the age at which development ends. so, don't take my word for it.

Is that a thing? I like the evolving league settings. I turn some of the categories off sometimes.

Well, sure. His walk rate may have been great, but his SLG was too low, and he could never hit a slider.

And I turn all of the categories off all the time. League evolution is far too unrealistic in its current form.

How though, eventually the MLB will expand just like the NHL and MLS. And with the Roster sizes I like a shorter roster size at 38 since it gives more of a decision of my roster is full and also it also adds more rewards in the Rule 5 draft (also rarely is my 40 man above 35). 8 day DL is probably my favorite feature, I like putting those 1 week injured players on DL and allowing me to pull up a replacement instead of losing that player for 2 weeks.

I didn't know the history showed when a player's position was changed, so we've both learned something!

Pedro Cerrano: Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come. Eddie Harris: You know you might think about taking Jesus Christ as your savior instead of fooling around with all this stuff.
Roger Dorn: ****, Harris.
Pedro Cerrano: Jesus, I like him very much, but he no help with curveball.
Eddie Harris: You trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?

My question is: how did a thread about something kinda cool - rescuing a prospect - turn into dissing... league evolution?

I have a tendency to derail these kinds of threads. This thread sucks and is now about trains.
