Quick rebuild of New York Yankees

Good morning everyone I just need advice on how to do a quick rebuild I'm trying to turn around my New York Yankees they're old and frankly they're just not that good how do I go about rebuilding this team. Free agency is not an option right now. do I do it by pitching do I do it by improving my defense up the middle what's the first thing I must do? Help....

I tried this. First of all try shopping your highest paid players. Take the best available prospect for them. This reduces salary and opens up free agent choices. You might have to set the trading below average. Also set the AI trading to favor veterans.
