Shopping a player around

Sometimes this takes a very long time, especially it seems during that time of the year between the end of the season and the salary arbitration hearings. I've got a pretty juicy PC and it's taking several minutes to shop my closer around.

Same with me. Shopping a player used to be very quick, with earlier versions of 17, but now it take maybe 4 times as long. Along with that, the time it takes to sim a day has also increased by a bunch.

Do you still find the new version faster than OOTP 16? So far I've been pleasantly surprised at how fast everything is (including shopping a player around) in OOTP 17. In OOTP 16 I used to shop a player around right before taking a break because of the long time it took.

Yes and no. For fictional leagues it seems to be fast, for regular MLB it seems slow, but only under certain conditions. Sometimes the criteria makes for a quick set of responses (trade a player with a high salary at the trade deadline) and sometimes not (trade a good player with some considerations like fragile health or high salary prior to the arbitration deadline). Sometimes it's a few seconds, sometimes it's a few minutes.

I find it faster than 16 for a league I imported from 16, but seems much slower for a similar league I tried starting from scratch in 17. Could be something weird with my setup, though.

As for shopping a player around, it takes forever for me during the period before arbitration as well. I wonder if the financial situation is so complex at that point that it takes longer to see which offers would be allowed financially.

does the real league have alot more minor leauges and such? it might just be a matter of # of players to process in that situation.

it's defintiely faster or at least as fast as 16 for me. i didn't try this before patch #2, though. it may have been slower then... the entire year was.

turn on the multi thread option.... double up threads to # of cores in your cpu - (count hyperthreaded cores as 1, not 2 -- 4cores = 8 threads ,,, four cores with hyperthreading shows 8 cpus, but only do = 8 threads). if you have any heat issues, turn it down to 1thread to 1core (4core = 4 threads... duo with hyperthreading = 2threads)

if heat isn't an issue do as many threads as you wish.... negligible returns likely... at some point the cpu won't be the bottleneck, if it ever was in the first place.

I just upgraded for 4 GB RAM to 8 GB RAM. Still having serious issues. It seems to take forever when you're shopping a salary dump who nobody wants. If you're offering up a young guy with upside, takes seconds, at least for me.

I'm playing the Twins this go around. It just took me 25 minutes to shop him and got zero offers. Not even a bad one.

Totally makes the game unplayable. Please look into this soon.
