Saying "no" personal manager contract
What happens when your team offers you a new manager contract and you choose "no?"
I'm afraid to try; don't want rapid retirement. I assume it gives you new options for other teams. Has anyone dared to find out? |

play every game myself so I won't even have that option for 3 or 4 weeks. Why don't you copy your league folder somewhere and try it? If it doesn't work out move your backup folder back into the game. If you do it let us know how it works.

I'd assume you would become a free agent so to speak, and then could go look elsewhere.

I tried this last saturday to find out what would happen... and I did find out what would happen only now I forgot. You basically get to pick any of the teams offerent. and I'm pretty sure you could still pick the team you didn't accept the contract from.

I would *hope* it's programmed like TDCB, where other teams may contact you for openings, but i doubt anything like that occurs except if you don't renew your contract or get fired...

I finished my first year with the D-Backs coming within one game of winning the Series. They offered me a contract and I declined in order to see what other teams were interested.
The D-Backs, Phillies, Pirates, Royals and D-Rays offered me work. The D-Backs were offering the most $$$$ but I ended up going with the Phillies because they had more long-term upside (i.e. younger players). Besides, the Phillies owner was "A Nice Guy" and wouldn't hassle me like the "Bad Dudes" that owned the Pirates, Royals and D-Rays! I was hoping the Tigers would offer something- but no luck.

Thanks, TigersFan. Sounds like it's worth checking "no" just to see what your options are, especially if your same team offers you the chance to come back.
What a helpful forum this is.

Well, if you turn it down, the team you were with isn't guaranteed to give you another shot. There will be some offers out there, but not necessarily your old job.
