Worst pitcher assigned closer role by manager

In a historical league, the manager occasionally assigns my 5th starter/long reliever (with poor stats/ratings) the closer role ahead of my best reliever (with great stats/ratings). I don't think my closer had any fatigue/morale issues, and even if he did, the setup men should have taken over the role. After a few days, the manager reverted the pitchers to the correct roles. I uploaded the league files in closer.zip. Thanks!

Not sure what's going on there. When I ask your manager for the staff, he puts Wetteland as closer as expected.

I have the same issue, Windows 7 current patch. For the Astros the computer put Josh Fields as the closer and Ken Giles was not even one of the setup men.

As I mentioned, around a week after the computer put Wetteland back at closer without me prompting. I then acquired average rating Belinda on waivers, and the manager put him as closer over Wetteland (which didn't change after asking the manager for staff). I saved the game, reloaded it and without doing anything else the manager put Wetteland back at closer after asking him for staff. I'm also using Windows 7.

Here's another way to see the closer bug using the same "closer.zip" files as submitted earlier. Sim a day or two to get Wetteland as the closer. Then edit Stan Belinda (a free agent) to the Montreal roster (and DFA Holman). The AI will put Belinda as the closer, even after asking the manager for staff. However, after the league is saved, either through the auto-save, or saving the game by exiting, the AI will revert to Wetteland (through the ask manager button)as the closer, even without further simming. So it seems the bug is corrected by saving the game.

Even with those directions I can't reproduce it, however we have done some AI evaluation fixes the last few weeks which might have solved this (prevents us from using stale/outdated information). We have a new patch planned for later this week or so, so you can try again then and see if you still see problems.
