Online Reports unpackreports.php not firing correctly?

I just got Online Reports working using MYSQL but I've got an issue.

Everything uploaded to my server correctly, but when the unpacking script runs it's not actually extracting the tar file, so nothing works.

I eventually found that if I manually extract the tar file after it uploads, then run the unpacking script so that it can do all the database updates, my reports work flawlessly.

Any idea why it's not actually extracting?

It looks like this might be because passthru is disabled on my server.

I'm getting this error in the error log:

PHP Warning: passthru() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/myootpco/public_html/genesis/ftp/reports/unpackreports.php on line 51

I've sent a message to my host but havn't gotten a helpful reply back yet.

I've now found on the forums where other people have had this same problem because a lot of hosts apparently don't like passthru. Is there any way to run this script without passthru to achieve the same effect?

I'll take the question a step further too, since some hosts don't like passthru which makes uploading the archive for MySQL not work as intended, is there another way?

I know there's a single file option on my screen when I have MySQL enabled, but i'm not sure if that's going to upload files for the HTML version or the MySQL version.

My host confirmed that they have exec and passthru disabled for all clients and that's there nothing I can do about it. They also swear to me that's industry standard and i'll have a hard time finding a host that doesn't disable this fuction.

So if that's the case, or maybe if it's becoming the case, is there an alternative way to make MySQL and Reports work? I've worked with my host and don't seem to have any way for a user to unpack these reports, so right now my only option is to let a user upload the MySQL archive, notify me so I can unpack it, and then rerun the unpack php script so that it will do the database portion of it. That's a very clunky process.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Hello? Is it me you're looking for? I can see it in your eyes. I can see it as you type. You've got an answer to my question, and you want to tell me it. Cause you know just what to say, and you know just what to do. And I want to thank you so much, so thank you.
