MLB with current rosters
I want to play current MLB using v17.5.43 with the latest rosters and complete uniforms etc. Do I use the MLB2016 quickstart, or the "Majors" quickstart, or choose "new standard game"?
I understand the MLB2016 quickstart does not have the international and independent leagues, but is that the only difference? Does choosing new standard game give me those options? |

2) If you select New standard game you can select what/if any other leagues you want. If you use the MLB 2016 that's just(from my understanding)MLB and the minor leagues. If you use the 'majors' that loads up all the leagues that come with the game. |

I am guessing that the quickstart assures me of the correct 40-man rosters for the start of the game, whereas the "new game" leaves the AI to configure the rosters to its preference. Is that correct? (Of course, the AI could mess with rosters on day 2 either way.)

And it does. Guaranteed.
I could be wrong but I think all options start with the current 40 man rosters, quickstart just skips the advanced setup options when making the league, which is where you can add other leagues. There might be something with the start date of the save too... I've never really paid attention. I usually run a quickstart where I am only interested in MLB, a historical replay and a fictional league so I never do a flushed out current day save. Sorry to waste your time reading this, I don't think I really helped at all. |

I think I will go with the "majors" quickstart. Why not see all that the game has to offer?

I wonder about this database path... shouldn't it point to the file in my installation? Maybe it doesn't matter since my rookies will be fictional anyway.

I'm curious how the Majors quickstart (i.e. all leagues) works out for you. I'd like to try it myself and simulate the whole baseball world (especially with the improved simming speed in this version) but I suspect the settings will need some tweaking. For example, that quickstart's default settings have the MLB league generating "international established free agents" and "free agents from independent leagues". If the international/independent leagues are already running it seems to me that would produce a "double dose" of established free agents. |
