Financial Strategies
Started a quick start last night with the Oakland A's. They are in the whole for the season with a projection of about $-15 million.
What are some ways to try and close that gap so that I have some flexibility with the team. I am concerned about the draft and not having money to sign those that may want more than they are slotted for...possible extensions with mediocre players and the ability to sign some coaches for extensions. I play stats only, trade difficult set to "hard" and at "neutral". |

First thing that comes to mind is to have a Florida Marlins (post World Series win) style yard sale and ship off contracts for prospects. You will definitely have signing problems if your balance is negative going into the draft.
If you overperform with the A's there is at least some hope that the increased attendance and season ticket sales will close the budget gap. |

i believe even if ur in the red, u can still draft players n offer them the slot money, u just cant go over, so b mindful of what these kids demands are... also i suggest trading reddick, crisp, n gray... oakland isnt ready to win within the next 3 or so years, so paying for reddick n gray doesnt seem beneficial to me. plus gray should probably land u a few really good prospects.

You can also try cutting guys on the 40 who are in AAA who you know you won't likely call up to the main roster.
If you're playing as GM too, you can adjust the ticket price in hopes you can find a sweet spot for rising attendance and increased profits. |
