Modifiers for short careers, early peaks
Has anyone ever managed this? I've tried numbers in test leagues all the way up to 20.00 for both development and aging, but still can't get what I want. I want to see guys peaking at 21, 22, with the vast majority of careers being over by the age of 30.

Guess that's a no, eh? I gave up on small, incremental changes and jumped from 20 all the way up to 100. Half of the good players are still staying effective until age 38, 40, 42, and I'm confused.

In my experience with stretching these values out is that there is a limitation to what one can accomplish. I've focused on trying to extend careers and while I have seen players last longer on average its not an extreme effect
No one played into their late 40's or 50's and few players were still productive in their early 40's with most retired just as you would expect had the values remained unchanged My guess is that the game knows there shouldn't be a septuagenarian roaming center field, and maybe it knows players shouldn't peak at 20-22. Maybe 20, or 100, is no different than entering 2 when it comes to amount of effect but I'll certainly be interested if you find a way to achieve what you want ![]() |

Hmm, 500s got me closer by the eyeball test. Now it's too many 33, 34 year olds where it was 38 and 40 year olds. still not quite to the point where i want to spend time digging into SQL yet for real comparison, but definitely getting closer. I even see a couple of 22-year-olds in the leaderboards for the first time.

Well, andrewvk, I'm beginning to believe it is possible, but will take far larger numbers than I'd dreamed. With 1000s, heres the ages of the top 10 in pitching WAR, from best to 10th: 20, 24, 22, 35, 29, 40, 30, 36, 34, 24
On down the line, the distribution looks something like about a third 20-25s, a third 26-32s, and a third 33-40s. The needle is still moving as I go, especially on the devel (less on the aging), but it's moving veerrrrrryyyy slowly. I'm not at all sure how you could make your team of old farts like that, though. Getting smaller seems more difficult. I can use large umbers, but how many decimals can you use? .00000000000000000000000001?
