speed bug?
not sure if this is a bug.
189day schedule - very similar to mlb. relevant dates like sept 1 callups the same. september 12 then 17-20 gets progressively slower as a league ages. it's not so bad the first few years.. then it's very noticeable by 30-50ish, lol. simulation years kept taking progressively longer, and the extra auto-save time for a larger league was not accounting for the entire increase. in a basic league (28t 6 minors, 156g) it starts at ~3mins, then by the time it's 9mins September 15-20 takes 3-4mins of the total time. i have hof voting off, no awards, no frills etc. no owner goals. no evolution, but other more tangible functions are all similar to default and/or turned on. even if it's the minors doing their thing, it shouldn't increase with years, right? anyway i didn't want to post a wasted thread in bug reports. i've waffled on this very topic already, lol. Yes, actually the waiting times increase as the years go by. This is because more years = more saved data. Basically taking up more RAM on your pc. Check out this thread on reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ootp/commen...ur_own/cnpki3x Specifically, see the points under "Miscellany" section on speeding up the game system. Hope this helps! |

since there is virtually no difference between SSD and HDD sim times, it lkely has very little to do with what's being written or read from storage. that is not the bottleneck here by use of deductive reasoning.
also, at this point, nothing is being saved. the time between the start of an auto save to the september time frame in question is mostly the same. the time after this point until dec 31 is mostly the same. the only thing that is taking longer is september 12ish, then september 15-20ish. i'll erase all that history stuff, but it is set to keep none anyway. it would be silly to have a setting that doesn't do its job... frustrating would be a better term. |

ok here is a better way to put it.
short version: deleted stuff, purged db skip long version, if you want: ----deleting messages, logs, not keeping anything from settings choices et al, deleting all retired players, deleting league history-league function, deleting all stats for all players-league function, and finally after all of that, purging the database of deleted records-database page function---- all of that does not reduce the time for a simulated season. in fact it didn't affect it at all the last time i tried it, so i just put my new LTMs into a very old backup... will check again since there may have been other things going on... in other words not employing the scientific method, lol. once i finish this run, i'll try to reset everything as if it's a new league. something else is causing it to slow over time beside extra players and history/news/messages etc or i am missing something relevant that would fill in the gap. i do periodically go in and delete retired players as it goes.
