What era do you start your fictional leagues in?

See a ton of people starting from 1901, curious to see what everyone enjoys. I started mine in the late 1970's

I started mine in 2014 and deeply regret not starting much earlier. Too far in now to change...I probably would've liked to start it in the 50's.

I started my current fictional Federal Baseball Association in 1914 (OOTP 13 I think) with a Northern and Southern league (both 8 teams) and 3 levels of minors. I play out all my team's games and am now finishing the 1930 season before I transfer the league to OOTP 17 with its vastly improved 3D and dem pesky pawns! Still can't believe how many hours of problem-forgetting fun this game has given me since I stumbled across it in 2005!!:

Playing every game wow, that's impressive. I will say I do not have that level of determination. I am a sim a month and evaluate guy, although I have started playing more and more games of late.

1950.

I'm not a fan of baseball before they started having real athletes.

My conceit was a fictional league whose history mirrors Major League Soccer, so I started in 1996 (with OOTP 16), but with present-day settings. Now in 2012.

I like to start in 1980 for no other reason other than the fact it was the year I was born. That way I can relive my childhood.

I sually start in the 19th century, as I like doing the whole history thing, the varying types of ball during the next 1000 years, the old stadiums, etc etc... If I wanted modern baseball, I'd just watch TV

In the past I've usually started in 1950 or 1970. But, my current league was started in 1910.

When I want to god-mode, I start 19th Century, to get a nice, large history.

But when playing? Oh man, managing those 19th century teams is the pits. No pitching changes, tons of errors, etc.

My last fictional in 16 started with modern setting, and I kinda liked it, actually. In the past I've done 1980 (liked), 1946 (liked) and 1901 (did not like), again, in terms of being involved as GM/Manager.

Given that I am thinking of dropping the multiple leagues conceit because I only ever pay attention to the one I'm playing in, I'm giving some thought to starting in 1946 (post-wars, so pretty much post-losing players and also having plausible cross-country MLB) with 2 sub-leagues and 2 divisions each, which I'll get a custom schedule to make each "division" a league of its own, with no inter-league. Probably start with 24 total teams (6 per "league") and expand over time.

That way, I can have the feel of a non-MLB clone but still have a universal Hall, universal stats, etc. (In my 16 league, I used association, and the best hitter jumped leagues, making it hard to see how well he had done in his career.)

I play all different periods, but I stop before I get to the 1/3rds. Just can't stomach pitchers coming into games to pitch to one batter. When I got OOTP last Tuesday, I tried the MLB Quickstart. I think I lasted less than 15 games. It simply shouldn't take 4 pitchers to get through 1 inning.
