Removing an entire league (minors) without releasing players to FA

I'm trying to figure out a way to remove a Rookie Level league from my game without releasing all of the players on those rosters to FA. Is there a way to do this? Seems like I need some way to bypass all of the roster limits, take control of all of the teams (Act as Commish?), manually move all the players off those rosters, then delete the league, and then allow the AI decide who to keep? anyone think of a better way?

That's pretty much the only way to do it, it has to be done manually.

I do this all the time. I take the ML quickstart down to 3 minors.
1 minor= easy

Here are the steps
You want to be rid of a rookie league...so...

1 Go into settings and set the roster limits for A level to 50 players
2 Run run computer manager on all teams. That should have all the rookie players have moved up to A ball. You can do a quick scan in the main player list to see if any players are left (injured players don't move up on this so if you have 4 or 5 star players you don't want as free agents, move them up manually)

3 Delete the rookie league
4 Reset the roster limit for the A league (say 35 players). Run the computer manager again. It should release the extra players...if you not you can go to each ML team roster page and hit "set up minor leagues"

At this point you can delete the extra released free agents if you don't want them hanging around.
You can also now delete the extra fired coaches from your rookie league now available.

Then you should be ready to go with one less minor league and all the players worth keeping at the higher level

What happens if I cherry pick players off Historical MLB teams and place them in various Fictional Leagues and I don't want to keep the Historical League? What happens to the players that are on the original 40 man roster (that are playing elsewhere),do they become free agents or do they remain with their new teams?

Just to follow up on this, I went through this process last night and it worked like a charm. Only "gotcha" was if your world has multiple Rookie level leagues or whatever, this won't work. As Sprague noted, you need to go 1 level up...so if you are trying to delete a R level league, you'll need to make the increase at the SA or Single-A level.

Now, that said, the "manual" part of moving people from 1 team to another is 10000% easier now with multi-select...there's a nice little radial button in the upper left corner on the Rosters/Transactions screen that selects everyone on that team. then just drag and drop. done.
