Basic question:

I'm in commissioner/manager mode, and every roster move I get gets overruled and changed almost immediately by the AI - what am I missing? This never happened in previous versions...

You still have a manager on the team (or even bench coach but not 100%) with a controlling attitude he will change things on you as he see fits

Yes, but I figured it out. There is a box checked by default that you have to uncheck, disallowing AI to make roster changes.

That fixed it.
