What does this graphics card driver warning mean?
When I open OOTP16, this warning window comes up.
Not very computer-literate... What does this mean? Is it an important element in the game? Do I need to fix it? How do I download the graphics card driver? Last edited by Eugene Church; 03-22-2016 at 04:18 PM. Reason: Proper Punctuation |

Click on Game Settings. Look for the 3D & Facegen tab. Click on it and you'll see the OpenGL settings.

Do you know what kind of graphics card is installed in your computer? Most of the time, you'll see a popup message on your computer to indicate that a graphics update is available. That would be the place to start. Apart from that, you can just disable the OpenGL options. Not sure what it'll do to 3D, if anything. Maybe someone else will know.

First I'd just follow the guideline and see what effect it has. Go to the 3D section and disable OpenGL Shader. Post back with results OR if there were more than just the option to turn on or off. Some options have options within the options.

I just purchased OOTP17 and played out one complete game just to test the animation and the sound. I checked out the new animation and sound... the animation has improved some, but is still a long, long way from something I would use... I won't use animation until it has fairly good 3D graphics... probably years away for this to happen... OOTPB is a text game and will probably not concentrate on graphics... if it's not done well, I don't want it. The experimental audio play-by-play is somewhat improved, but really has to be improved for it to be a bonafide feature... maybe 5-10 years away from being anything anyone would use. I guess it doesn't matter whether my graphic card is up-to-date or not since I will not use the sound or the animation. Appreciate your help. Thanks. You, too, Eugene. You're a good man. Just want to make sure we do the right thing in these options so as not to lose anything important to you. When, and if, you make any changes to that Troubleshooting Area please let me know what you did and what resulted so we get you the optimal performance.

For what it's worth, I think the OpenGL has more to do with Facegen. At least that's what I tinkered with to solve Facegen issues I was having last version. I could be totally wrong on this, but that's what solved my issues so I think it at least has something to do with that.
