What to do with no minors

I started in 1921 with Brooklyn. Detroit and St. Louis have teams in the Texas league, the rest of us have no minors.

At the end of ST I have 30 some players. Seems all I can do is put the extras on waivers and release. But the other teams show extra guys on the 40 man roster, but their history shows no waivers, etc.

How did they get there? How do I stash away a few guys? Not sure how this is all supposed to work with the historical minors.

You should have a reserve list that has at least 15 slots in it...I hope.

you can make that reserve list as large as you need it. (it's under league setting>rules)

I don't see a reserve list. Is that a setting? Does it go away when my team gets minors?

it's a drop down thing on your rosters page. In the right hand corner (where your active roster is located) there should be a drop down "v" thing. Click that and it should tell you the players (if there are any) in your reserve list. The little "v" is pretty small, so look carefully.

yes, it goes away when your team gets minor leagues. Then it becomes your 40 man roster. Of course, even in 1919 when the historical minors start to kick in, if your team doesn't have an affiliated minor league, it remains. (in 1919 on two teams have affiliated minors ....)

Just a thought... can you go into the rules and increase the size of the secondary roster? That would allow you (and the AI) to stash more players.

That option is disabled when your league gets minors. As far as I can tell, teams without minor-league affiliates still have reserve rosters (and so do unaffiliated minors), it's just that those reserves are "invisible." They're also unlimited, and there's no way that I know of to limit the size of invisible reserves.

I'm showing the usual 40 man roster. I don't see anything about reserve lists.

Go to your team page, then click on the "Rosters & Transactions" Tab.

If you have minors, you'll see them. If you don't have minors, you'll see your reserve roster.

I'm on that screen.

I have Active Roster (25 man)
40 man roster (40 man)
Players designated for assignment
Disabled list

clicking the arrow on one of the boxes lists these options and
Waivers
Players on the Trading Block
Untouchable Players
Players on "Not Interested" list

There is nothing else. Nothing says Reserve

You're managing an ML Team and have the league set to no minors?

If I click on Players then I have and drop down that lists 6 players on the Reserve Roster.

But now their DFA has run out and it's telling me I need to release them or activate them. There's NO Reserve option on the Rosters & Transaction screen. If I right click on a player and select transactions, Reserve is not an option.

No I have the Historical Minors on. Two teams (St Louis and Detroit) have minors. Those teams are in the Texas league with a few other teams

if it's past 1919, maybe there is only 40 man roster. Can't recall for certain, but the reserve section may only be pre-1919. It's essentially the same thing in practice with different numbers allowed.

No, you can't move guys to the 40 man like you can with the reserve. ALL the players are on the 40 man, so after ST when you need to get down to 25 you have nowhere to send the extra guys.

Looks like a bug to me.

If only some teams have affiliates, it would make sense that his reserve roster isn't showing up.

Looks like the teams without affiliates need to have the ability to use a reserve roster, since many teams in the early years of baseball didn't have affiliates.

That's because they're invisible.

i just looked on one of the test leagues i've set up for myself (using that to sort of some historical minors issue for myself) - 1919 - season just finished (my team finished next to last)... and went to the Game Settings> Rules and clicked on the box 40 man roster size, and increased it to 70.

Back on my team team rosters & transactions page, the 40 man roster list was empty, until i clicked on it and then it showed i had 26 players and that 70 players could be listed.

So unless you've got some other settings checked, which i probably can't help you with, they should be there.

it does appear that once the minors leagues appear (1919) that reserve list disappears (or becomes invisible) and you only have to 40 man roster list, at least that's what it appears to happen in my test games.

it's all sort of confusing right now .....
