Most ridiculous trade requests

Post ridiculous and one-sided trade requests you get from other GMs here.

Here's mine (Note that I put left field in my team needs):

Kind of a sidebar question, is there a compare trade screen that shows all the players and their ratings/stats side by side easily? When I go into the trade screen, couldn't see something like that, but maybe missed it.

I might be able to top it.

Detroit are offering me (the Angels) J.D. Martinez for Mike Trout and $5,200,000.

Like the original posters, I also set Left field as a team need, so I guess that's why I got this offer.

I've had issues with the new setting needs function in 17. For instance, I'm playing as the Cardinals in 2016, and I suffer a couple outfield injuries, so I try setting my need to a center fielder who bats left-handed.

Naturally I ended up with offers like "Angel Pagan for Adam Wainwright" or "Gregor Blanco for Kolten Wong and Alex Reyes". I understand that expressing your needs puts you at a disadvantage in trade negotiation, but come on...

That just might be the winner right there.

This is why we still need a response option other than just REJECT TRADE, something that mimics the AI's responses about being a joke. Even if it has no actual gameplay effect it would sure feel good to click on a response option that says something like "You're an idiot."

I don't have a screen capture but I was offered Alex Avila for Josh Donaldson and $4 million cash before.

I don't think even in OOTP16 I ever got a trade request from the AI that I thought was reasonable. I've made trades that I initiated that seemed fair, but anything the AI initiates usually asked for 2x what I thought was fair.

Some responses that would be welcome in options:

"Thanks, but no thanks."

"Red Foreman said it best, 'You're a dumbass.' "

"Seriously?"

"My dead grandmother can do a better job of a trade offer than this."

"Kindly go take this offer and shove it straight up your candy ...."

"Wow....my three year-old son can do better. He offered a couple of animal cookies."

"Ok....thanks for the laugh, now how about something a little closer."

What else can we tell them?

And now it is time for the quote that comes up every year

The game only sees numbers, it does not see or even know who Mike Trout is!

Well, in the game I'm currently simming, Mike Trout just signed a one-year deal for $18.92M the winter after winning the Triple Crown and MVP and putting up 11.5 WAR...so clearly the AI isn't super-smart about assessing player value.

I figured since one of the owner's specific goals was to extend Jonathan Lucroy, I'd at least look at what kind of terms he was looking at to sign an extension.

An 8-year, $187 million extension starting with 2018 (player opt out after 2022 season).

As much as I'd like to follow the owner's wishes, that's just...Yeah, not gonna happen.

I doubt the real Lucroy was even looking for THAT kind of extension.

I was just asked to trade the pitcher with the best ERA (2.28) and the best strikeout rate k/9 = 6.3 in the league for a 35 year old reliever in AA with an ERA of 6.08 and they wanted $8k to close the deal. I'd give you names but they are all fictional.

Clearly there is still some work to be done here on the trade computing. Or we could add another option. Rather than "Reject trade" we could have "Reject Trade With Expletives".

I think if you right click on the guy's name you just choose "Compare" and then you'll be brought to a screen where you can compare guys side by side.
