*****manager Mode*****

IF you are playing the game in manager mode then the option to edit or change anything about your league is gone. Some options won't appear on the screen that is the reason.

Is it possible for this to be changed, and if so, is there any plans to do so?

I think the general consensus is that a lot of OOTP'ers dislike the lack of configurability that becomes a factor when you turn on manager mode....

Personally, I'm glad those options are disabled. I had a nasty tendency in OotP4 to quit my WS games when it looked like I may lose.

It's a game, and I don't want cheating to be too easy.

If you really want to cheat yourself in a solo league, then that's your own decision, but that shouldn't be a reason why we shouldn't be able to expand, or realign or whatever....

I am looking into some "non-criticial" areas that we maybe able to have the ability to change but no promises.

What if I RETIRE after the end of a season? Will those missing functions then be available to me to configure? Further, if I retire, will I still be able to continue running the league, and if so, will that be with or without the missing options enabled?

If you retire, that means you aren't in manger mode I would guess.

I've done this...your league stays set where it is at (meaning you do not restart). You do, then, have the option of modifying your players, salary cap (etc) prior to starting a NEW manager career. Have not seen a way to bring your old manager out of retirement.

I'd be careful modifying players somebody posted that when they started manager mode the game would not let him control a team that he had edited the players on. Haven't seen this myself but it was reported if we had search working I could tell you where it's at.

Ragin, did you notice this when you retired?

Sweed,

I don't think that is the case, I just totally maxxed out a pitcher in the editor then took that team over in manager mode, you can't alter them after you take over.

I think you just qualified to start a 'hornsmaniac' online league

It would be nice if, at the very least, we can add/subtract teams and move them around in Manager Mode. Personally, I never edit players, but league expansion in Manager Mode is critical IMO.

As I mentioned above or in another thread( I don't remember which) that the ability to make some changes while in this mode is being looked into. But no promises.

What I want to do is modify player names and nicknames. I think that is one really cool thing that you can do and it helped me keep track of the players a little better in fictional leagues.

PLEASE LET US MODIFY PLAYER NAMES (if at all possible) with the first patch!

i'd like player names, and salary caps. I don't think either does anything to "cheat" for a player, or lessen the degree of difficulty in the game.

Well I wanted to edit my ammy draft, so I retired and then I edited the ammy draft....Then I started a new manager career, Guess what...It will not let you take over the team you RETIRED from...that is the kicker...So couldn't go back to my team...I had to pick a new one.....So then I said well what if I retire again, then maybe I'll have the option to go back to my original team..."NO DICE".....So now I am on my third team..LOL...I really wish they would at least let you edit players in the Ammy draft...cause I like to edit it alot...With friends names and so on...

Steve,

Thanks Steve that's good to know. As I said, just reporting what I read somewhere on the board but hadn't actually experienced.
Without search I couldn't find it to reread so maybe I just misunderstood the post.

By the way I'm really enjoying the manager mode but I really cringe when one of my stars gets injured and I know if it's bad there's no way to fix it. Then the sigh of relief when you find out it's just day to day. Went though my first draft in v5 and saw some of the nicknames the game creates that Markus mentioned. They're better than the ones I had been thinking up and putting in my game last year

Odd. Very odd. I CAN EXPAND.

I didn't start my career with manager mode, but I *did* turn it on in the first year... I wanted to make sure everything was good to go.

Anyways, with manager mode, I can expand, generate a new schedule, and all that other good stuff..
