When will the roster update be released?

I'm in a '17 online league and we were wondering when the roster update would be coming out as we would like to start playing after the roster update is released.

Thanks in advance for anyone that can give us a general ETA on when the roster update will be released. I couldn't find the info anywhere.

Essentially, we'll be releasing roster updates together with every patch. Expect the one around OD (early April) to be pretty accurate and without glaring issues.

Yeah, exactly.

I'd generally suggest waiting till the OD update to start a career, as we're still going to be doing a great deal of heavy-lifting and changes until then.

Even after then, there will be a lot going on, but that's probably the earliest point where the rosters will be in a fully polished state and where I'd personally be happy with starting a long-term league based on them.

I mean unless a major trade or signing happens I'm not overly concerned about the rosters...

Unless you guys mean re-evaulating ratings and rankings of prospects and such. But I don't recall that changing in the patch for OD unless I never noticed.

Well then apparently that slipped by me....that's rather embarrassing.

Does this go for historical as well or will those be pretty well set upon release?

Am thinking of buying this, as it is only $39.59 Canadian on Steam, until March 29....
My main questions before I do so are:

1. Do we get ongoing daily or weekly roster updates, transactions etc. automatically done for us ?
2. If not, is it possible to switch players or trade players from one team to another ? (without interference from AI rejecting trades)
(I prefer playing with accurate true-to-life rosters)
3. Are players created by OOTP as the season progresses ? (ie..Rookies...after playing in an MLB game)

Thanks

1. Basically you get a roster update with every patch. So maybe 20ish updates over the course of the year.

We also try to release a semi-official update around Sept 1 that includes all player movement that's happened until then, but it doesn't always work out, so there are no guarantees it'll happen. It's fairly likely though.

2. Yes, absolutely!

3. The game comes pre-loaded with real life draft and international prospects for several seasons (international prospect for only one season, draft guys for around four) but after that it does start creating new players.

Thank you very much, for the quick replies and thorough answers to all of my questions !!
I'm on board !!
I hope I don't have any problems downloading it thru Steam...
It is approx $18 less than buying it thru OOTP's website (in Canadian dollars)

Yeah I can't decide how big of a deal it is to me. Like the poster above said, barring any major trade it doesn't matter too much to me. I get re-ranking prospects, but it's a crap-shoot whether a prospect pans out or not.

Decisions Decisions!

Play historical until OD.

Historical with real minors is amazing!

It is grand but I am having an issue with my team that does not have a minor league system, I can not see the reserve roster.

I messed around with this a bit. Scouting off. Using OOTP development engine. Noticed a lot of future stars never develop. Stopped playing. For example: Ozzie Smith in 1978 only had future potential of 3 stars and was only rated at 50 at SS. I personally have a hard time playing something where I see things like this happening.

I started a 2016 game. Close enough.

I gave up on historical for now until the minors/reserves thing gets resolved.

It's not just re-ranking though. We add new international signings, add more real draft eligible guys, make changes to the international leagues, as well as tons of other small things that are too numerous to list but add up over time

They fixed that. Restart.
