Historically Affiliated Minors Timeline?

This may be a big ask, but do any of you valued insiders have a spreadsheet or chart that shows the list of minor leagues/teams/affiliations as they will play out in 17 year-over-year? Could that be shared? My curiosity is bubbling.

Thanks either way, and THANKS for adding this to the game. It will, without a doubt be my personal favorite among the new features.

I believe what you're looking for is on Baseball Reference:

Thank you. That's a good resource. This one, too. Mike McCann's Minor League Baseball Page

But, really my question is focused on what happens in OOTP itself. I'm assuming (maybe incorrectly???) that the unaffiliated teams in MiLB leagues with affiliated teams will also appear in OOTP17. So, 1919 Texas League, for example, has several unaffiliated teams. Register League Encyclopedia | Baseball-Reference.com

What I'm really wondering if someone could supply is a master list of which leagues will be present year-over-year. For example:
1919: Texas League
1920: Texas League, International League
.
.
.
1934: Texas League, American Association, PCL, Carolina Leagues, etc.

I'm already thinking about dynasties, timelines, trajectories, and so on, and thought it would be cool to see which leagues will expand, contract, appear and disappear over time within the game. If anyone has that, it would be cool to see.

This one. McCann's page is the best.

I too would be curious to see a list of what minor leagues/teams are available each year. I'll probably have to wait until release and do it then...

If my understanding of how this will work is right:

1919-1926:: Texas League
1927-1929: Texas League, International League
1930-1931: Texas League, International League, Western League
1932: Just go to that Baseball Reference link and check the affiliated teams. All of those leagues will be in the game, and there are a bunch of them from that point forward. I think the top two levels should be complete, and some lower ones besides.

I would expect it to be immediately pre-WWII, so 1940 or 1941.

Dick Williams coached the 1965 Toronto Maple Leafs which apparently was the AAA affiliate of the Red Sox in 1965? I NEVER knew that...

Time disappears when you start browsing B-Ref. You can lose hours, days ... so much information

You can get completely immersed in these seasons with access to OOTP, Baseball-Reference and the Sporting News. I highly recommend the SABR Bioproject. You can get to those biographies from player pages at Baseball-Reference, and they are fascinating. The Sporting News was all baseball before WWII, and there's at least one long article about every major league team every week, as well as a lot of the minor league teams. And all of those minor league box scores. Want to know how Hank Greenberg did in May, 1932 for the Beaumont Exporters? It's all there.

Cool. Now, a couple of follow up question? What will happen with the unaffiliated teams that are in MiLB leagues that had some affiliated teams? Will they have budgets, and try to sign undrafted and/or released players?

What about cases where some MLB teams have more minor league teams? Will they have the advantage of deeper farm systems, just as they did in real life?

And, finally, what do we know about the Rule 5 draft? Will it apply to minor league players on unaffiliated teams? I know that, in real life, the Rule 5 draft rules changed over the years. Does anyone know how it will be handled in the new OOTP historical universe?

Thanks, everyone. I CAN'T WAIT until 3/22!!!

Yep. Babe Ruth hit his first professional HR up here too at Hanlan's Point Stadium on September 5th, 1914.

In fact 15 people who played for or managed the Toronto Maple Leafs (not the hockey team) wound up in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown including: Sparky Anderson, Ed Barrow, Dan Brouthers, Leon Day, Hugh Duffy, Charlie Gehringer, Burleigh Grimes, Carl Hubbell, Willie Keeler, Joe Kelley, Ralph Kiner, Nap Lajoie, Tony Lazzeri, Heinie Manush, and as mentioned by DustinthePOWERHOUSE - Dick Williams. Wikipedia page here. Just think, that's just one franchise. How many bazillions of historical franchises are we about to tap into in OOTP? The mind boggles.

There's a lot of this we don't know. I have no idea how the unaffiliated teams will work. They may have their own budgets, or they could have imaginary affiliations. I think one of the worries with independent minor leagues has been that the AI for the minor league teams could mess with getting the best players to the majors, so I look forward to seeing how they handle it. The same thing goes for the multiple affiliations at the same level. OOTP is not set up to duplicate the way this really worked, which was to provide a regular source of revenue for minor league owners from selling off major league ready players to the major league teams. Jack Dunn of the 1920s minor league Orioles would keep the players around a year or so extra, fetching a premium price for his dominant stars like Lefty Grove. Take a look at how many Orioles wound up on the great Athletics teams of 1929-1931. Anyway, I'm excited about the concept, but we won't know the details and the workarounds until Friday.

I think by the time there was a Rule 5 that the teams in affiliated leagues had become affiliated, and we're certainly not going to have a Rule 5 draft in 1932.

The Rule 5 draft can trace its origins back to the 1890s. And presumably it will always be available as an option for anyone who wants to use it in their own leagues.
