Will it be easier to override manager lineups in OOTP17?

One of my pet peeves in OOTP 16 was the new manager versus GM play modes. I like playing in manager play mode but want to set the line ups myself. However the manager always over-rode them. Will there be more flexibility in manager mode this year to lock in your desired lineups and not allow the manager to override them?

This from the release newsletter:

- Added option to always allow the GM control over lineups and pitching staffs even while playing GM-only

The feedback I got was that a lot of people (and some online leagues) liked the idea of still hiring a manager with their personality and styles, like having them have their own strategies which you may or may not be able to control, but still want to set lineups and pitching staffs.

So I gave in and added the option to still have all that other stuff with managers, but they will still let you dictate lineups and pitching staffs to them.

Very grateful for this change. It isn't completely realistic but IMO you need a check against the truly bizarre AI decision here and there which are also not completely realistic. I intend to use this ability sparingly but I want the option to step in.

Maybe some people dont like the day to day of setting lineupsso they hire a manager but sometimes they might disagree with the manager but dont want to be overridden

nothing worse than making a specific trade to open a lineup spot up for a prospect, and then watching your mgr bypass the prospect and start the 5th OF instead.

Or having my catcher who bats .220 and runs slower than my grandma who lost a leg in a horrible farming accident as a child bat lead off

I really appreciate this change and a big part of that is immersion-related. I like to play GM and Manager but like to have a manager listed, even if he is just a figurehead, because it makes my coaches screen look a little more realistic. I essentially feel that I'm controlling two different characters when I use that mode.

Forgive my ignorance if this has already been discussed, but it'd be great if you could ask your manager to do certain things. So, in this scenario, you can make the trade, then request that your manager put the prospect into the starting lineup. If he listens, great! If he doesn't, maybe it's time to start looking for a new manager.

Ah, the old Billy Beane strategy.

This is a great idea - I love the immersion aspect of the mgr having his own brain and outlook on a player's ability, etc but frustrating because in "real life" the GM and manager will chat about stuff like this, and we don't have that option yet.

one thing I did ask for was a "Clear Player Strategy" button on the player strategy screen.
having to go through the players again to force start position to none and then redo is a little tedious.
