Another Project - Jersey Number Cards
Not sure if anyone is interested in something like this, but I think it's nice to have a quick way of memorializing a player's jersey and number with a particular team. Also, of course, it's another way of showing a retired jersey. There are a number of issues here...you need 100 different png files for each jersey number since there is a limit to font size. Also, any font that has all capital letters will not recognize accents in player names (show up as a rectangle instead) More importantly, you would need a different jersey type for pinstripes, away jerseys, or any other variation to white with basic striping. In any case, is anyone interested in this project or should I just tailor it to what I am personally looking for? So far, as you can see, I have just the numbers 12 and 10 available...oh yeah, 21 too. Suggestions are very much welcome!

One thing I did not mention is that these are generated as baseball cards in the game. Updated version looks like this...

Can you upload these for when a player's number is retired?

Yeah, these would make great "number retired" cards. Might have to edit stuff around a little if a player didn't spend the majority of his career with the team that retired his number, though.

I haven't played long enough to have anyone with a retired number, does that happen often? My plan is to create one for every player, or at least every top player basically as a record of what they looked like with each team through their career. Then perhaps do some editing to make the "retired" jersey special if and when that happens.

These can be created at any time for any player as a baseball card. It will automatically use whatever number they have at that time and for colors will use the Jersey Main and Jersey Secondary colors that are set for the team.

I mean, is there a way to upload it to the teams' page for retired numbers?

Oh, I see...there is no way to do that that I know of. I think at best you can link to the player profile from the retired number. I've been trying to figure out where the retired number files are located and came up empty.

Dang...hopefully some day they do this, even if it's just a blank jersey without the name. That would be pretty sweet.

These are great. A "locker card". :-D I've seen guys print a player's number on the back of a card. Couldn't you use that to put the player's number on the back of his jersey here? You'd have to do it in a large, jersey-acceptable font and in the team's color but it seems doable. Have you tried something like that?

Thanks very much...I did try using every font and size that I believe is available, but could not get the numbers to be anywhere close to big enough. I am about one third of the way through finishing all the numbers now. I'd be done already if it wasn't tax season! A couple new things with this project though. I found a font that allows for all capital letters but also has the accent marks...you just need to replace one of the existing font files with mine. And I have added a pinstripe version:

Ok, the project is finished finally. I'm linking to the files here for anyone that is interested (hope I did it right). Just add files as you would other baseball card files. The font file I've included will need to replace the existing font file in your data folder. If that is not done, any player with an accent mark will not display correctly. Highly recommend keeping a copy of the original font file in case things go wrong. To adjust colors, just pick them through each teams jersey main, jersey secondary and jersey pinstripes color settings.

So when you click on "make cards for all players" on the team baseball cards screen, it will use these as default or do you have to make a change?
Nicely done though.. looks neat on that screen you posted! |

You'd have to name the file Default to do that. As they are, will have to do each player individually. And of course you can only have one default for all teams. So you'd have to choose the regular or pinstripes version and would want to rename the existing default file to not lose it.
