Suggestions/Questions for OOTP 17 (Mods please move this thread if it's not in the right place)
Having played several standard games OOTP 16 (a lot more than I should have honestly), I noticed some trends as well some features I'd like to see improved upon for the next game.
I'll throw this out just to be thorough - is there any work being done to include an official in-game schedule generator that creates schedules based on the parameters you give it? i.e. length of games, number of teams/divisions Moving on, one thing I'd like to see as part of the evolution of the league is minor league affiliations changing. So many lower level teams change major league clubs constantly and I'd even like to see the game relocate AAA and AA teams on occasion, or even give the player an official option to do so. Perhaps the game can give you ideas for minor league relocation that make more geographical sense. We're talking about a universe in which the major club owns all of it's affiliates of course. Another thing I've noticed is that in every sim, players who are the most highly rated in the game such as Mike Trout and Jose Fernandez always always always become free agents. That alone is not unrealistic, but, I've never seen a scenario where a team trades a player that valuable during the last year of their contract once the team is out of the race. Personally I'd like those trades to happen more often. Even when setting trade frequency to 'high', the amount of buying and selling didn't change. Will the improved General Manager AI improve this? Speaking of GM's, are there any expansions being made to front offices, or even coaching staffs? It'd be nice to see each organization have a team of guys in the front office as opposed to just a GM, a scout, and an impatient owner. Personally I'd love see teams have a full compliment of coaches at each level too? Lastly, what about broadcasting? I'm sure all 30 MLB teams are represented well among the OOTP community, and I'm curious to see what all of you could tell us about your local TV and radio broadcast teams and if any of you would be interested in a feature that would allow you to hire a broadcast team? A guy like Vin Scully is a legend and I feel like as a broadcaster he should be recognized as such in the game. Matter fact, shouldn't the hall of fame in OOTP be inducting more than just players who retired 5 years prior? Sorry for the long winded post, I just really love this game and I want to see to continue to evolve and get better and better. P.S. What about 3 team trades? |

I'd like to see single game records for MLB leagues. Knowing there have been 20 K games, for example, but having a note that someone with 10 K's in a game now has the single game record = no fun.

I completely agree with the pending free agent trades. It's a huge part of baseball but I don't see it in the game. I'm assuming the reason is that it must be a coding issue. Related to the trading AI, another aspect is that I receive trade offers asking me trade TWO players for ONE player from another team. I have never received an offer of receiving two (or three) players for one of mine.
Again, the issue is most likely the challenges of coding the AI. I truly understand that. Yet that is one of the few things that shows limitations of any sim. That's why I use Commissioner Mode when it comes to the slight imperfections of the game. That's not a complaint. It's a work around. |

This game rocks the only thing that will make perfect for me
Is round robin type playoffs, full coaching staff even if at first it's just eye candy, works baseball classic, fully functioning winter leagues that mimic real life and career pinch hitter stats and finally comeback player of the year already included as a default award. Actually one more thing linking players together if related

I would like to see comp picks handled appropriately.
Currently, if a player is drafted in a comp pick slot, if he is not signed, that pick is supposed to disappear, but it doesn't. It carries forward year after year. Other is, in my opinion is financials. Players demands for rosters are not quite realistic. Player Development and Scouting financials. The money invested needs to have more of an impact. Too many teams in leagues I have been in, barely invest money here because they know it has very little impact. Then scouting. I like having a variance between scouts, but I highly doubt, in real life, 1 scout would see a guy as 20/70 and 1 would see him as a 20/20. |

In 1986 scout Donald Labossiere summed up a prospect this way: "Does not have ML bat or power." It was Craig Biggio, who retired from the MLB with over three thousand hits and almost three hundred home runs, having won seven All-Star and five Silver Slugger awards.

Is there also a stadium creator? I checked out the 3D model section on ballpark edits but I never saw anything about making your own ballpark from scratch

This park generator is pretty sweet. I created a park, but I don't know how to import it into the game. Can anyone help?

Somewhere in player history under Leaderboard Appearances, a section to note where they rank on the career leaderboards for certain stats.
Where they already have existing categories, before listing leaderboard appearances for individual seasons, list their career #s and where that lands them all time. |

You need to copy it into the ballparks folder which is found in your documents folder on windows..... documents/ootp16/ballparks Copy it in there and then in game (have to be in commissioner mode) on the drop down list on your team name you'll see team settings. Click that and if commissioner mode is on you'll see an option to edit ball park. Then on the new screen under pictures and co-ordinates you'll see options to load in park pictures. (day, night etc) Just click select file and it should look straight inthe ballparks folder where you should find the park you copied there. Load that in and it'll show to the right. You may then have to move the positions to where you want them if they are not lined up right (just drag and drop) |
