My first game is going to be modern MLB, and therefore, I'll just let the league expand whenever it wants to.

In MLB sims, I always add expansion teams in Portland an San Antonio respectively. Since commish Manfred seems so enamored with the notion of placing expansion teams in Montreal and Mexico City, perhaps I'll give that a shot in 17.

Welcome to the forums, and please turn off league evolution before it screws you over.

Well mine was different I started a MLB game and change a lot of it so it's basically fictional I relocated the White Sox to Indy the Mets to San Antonio and Angels just changed back to Anaheim and the Blue Jays to Memphis so that's that but I expanded to make 16 teams in each league eventually 36 but the first two teams was Portlant and Las Vegas since west has fewer teams

If you're also curious about relocation, I was pushing a San Antonio agenda in my game for a while. The White Sox were in bad shape financially so I took them out of Chicago. Even made my own logo for them.

I'll be carrying over my league from '16, which has two expansion teams:

Las Vegas Outlaws - I ripped the team name, logo, and look right off of the XFL franchise. It was the only thing I liked about that league and it makes a pretty cool looking baseball team.

Alabama Mustangs - I'm from Alabama, so even though it's a pretty terrible market I wanted to start a franchise in my home state. This is the one I control. It's also kinda hard to come up with a good MLB team name for Alabama other than stealing the Birmingham Barons name...so I just went with my High School mascot.

I usually start out with the current MLB setup then sim a few years followed by the following expansion teams:

Las Vegas Aces
Richmond Virginians

Then I'll sim a few more seasons (at least 4) and add the following teams via expansion:

Portland Beavers
Oklahoma City Jacks

I'll sim at least 10 or more seasons after that then do a massive expansion by adding at least 4 teams at once and do a realignment of the leagues and divisions to the point where I have 4 divisions in each league composed of at least 4-5 teams each.

Some of the teams I've added in the past:
Montreal Barons
Vancouver Emeralds
Nashville Outlaws
Louisville Sluggers
Alabama Dixies
New Orleans Jazz
Memphis Pilots
Charlotte Knights

Usually my goal is to get up to at least 40 teams, 4 divisions in each league, 5 teams in each division so only division winners make the playoffs and I eliminate the Wild Cards and Wild Card rounds. I've never really gotten any farther than that.

I will never understand why people believe so hard that Montreal needs a new teams. Do people not remember how terrible they're attendance records where? Even when the were dominating in 94 they barely broke 20k a game. And dont give me that crap about them just needing a new stadiums, fans go to games to see the game not the stadium.

I also agree with you they don't deserve a team

I have a world with four different leagues of 24+ major league teams each. In my American league I have a rule that any team who misses the playoffs for 25 straight years may move. So I think there will be some city shuffling happening before I expand.
