Questions about OOTP 16 vs OOTP 17

I recently downloaded the OOTP 16 demo and am about to start a season with it. I was about to purchase the full game for $20 when I saw the announcement about OOTP 17.

If I pre-order OOTP 17 for $35, does it include the full version of OOTP 16 and would I be able to download OOTP 16 now and play it between now and when OOTP 17 is available for download?

If I download OOTP 17, will I still have access to the season that I began playing in OOTP 16? Will I continue playing that season in OOTP 16 or OOTP 17?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Buying OOTP17 will not get you OOTP16.

You can migrate saved games from one version to the next. So anything you start in OOTP16 you will be able to import into OOTP17.

You should be able to convert your 16 saved game to 17 with just the 16 demo. You will be able to do so if you buy 16. I recently have been downloading the demos from OOTP 12 thru 14 to convert my main custom league for a new fictional league. I still have 15 on my system. i did not play any of the demo's and not sure if they expire.

IIRC, the demo's do expire after 14 days.

Not meant to beat a dead horse but purchasing OOTP 17 does not get you OOTP 16.

When you start a new game like in OOTP 16 you play that game until you import it to the new version (OOTP 17). There are no time constraints for you to import your game to the new version. This is assuming you have purchased OOTP 16.

Purchasing OOTP 17 does not have any affects on any prior version. In fact, I have every version of OOTP since 6.5 on my PC. So if I wanted to, I could start a new game in each version and play them for as long as my heart is content.

You can download any prior version at any time. Again, the new version has no affect on this.

Cheers!

Yes, my OOTP 16 demo has expired, but it still allows me to play exhibition games, make trades, and do other things. I just can't play any regular season games or even move forward in the Spring Training calendar. I am just trying to figure out if I can go from the OOTP 16 demo to OOTP 17 or if I have to buy the full version of OOTP 16 before I go to OOTP17.

You don't need OOTP16 to get the full game with OOTP17. I believe your asking do the games "build upon each other." For instance, some games you need the base model, and then each year there are add-on editions. That's not the case with OOTP. Each game (OOTP15, OOTP16, OOTP17, etc.) is fully functional and doesn't require a prior version.

This close to the new release, I would wait until OOTP17 is released. With that said, it would be tough for me to go three weeks without OOTP!

I am not sure, but I am thinking this. OOTP 17 is a stand alone version, you do not have to own anything before. You can buy 17 and skip 18 and 19, but why would you? And pick up at 20. The basic game, baseball is the heart of the game but Marcus, Matt, the roster team, the beta team, and the forum members work hard to find the imperfections and suggestions to make this game far superior then the last version.
You do not need to own 16 or 15 or et al to play 17.

In light of recent trends in the gaming world, I'm surprised this is the first time this question was asked. Call it the Quantum Break effect.

I actually think thats a great idea.

What if you pre-ordered OOTP 17, you were given an option for $5, to get a OOTP 16 license? I do not think ton's of people would do it since we all have 16, but for new people it would allow them to get their cherry wet, before 17 came out. I do not think it would effect, Markus bottom line either, cause new players are not going to pre order 17 and then go pay full price for 16.

Just my 2 cents

Matt

just take a good look at all the dynasty reports, ballcap mods, jersey mods, and logo mods...

this game has unlimited replayability.
