Non-Roster Invitee...Can't move past it...

I hate to bring this up again, but I will. I am running a historical league that started in 1901 and I am now in 1921. On opening day I got the message, "Boston still has a spring training invitee on their active roster." I put him on the 40-man roster. I still got the same message. I demoted him to AAA and brought up another player; I still got the same message...how do I get past this. The game is saved at opening day and I can't seem to do anything to move forward...

I have not had to fix this. This is what I would do first.
1) Commissioner mode->Player Editor
Left side, check his status on the 40 man. Check to see if there is some funky suspension or injury. If all else fails you can move him to FA, sim 1 day then move him back.
Again, I have not dealt with this so I do not know if it is a signal of a larger problem or an odd one time thing,

It shows that he has been on the Major League Roster for 1 day...It shows he has been on the 40-man for 0 days. I changed that to 1 and nothing changed...This isn't the first time I have forgotten this prior to trying to play opening day. I just can't remember what I did to get past this. I didn't release the player or make him a free agent...I guess I will do that if I have to...

Sigh...it was a different guy...sheesh...only really have first year guys make the team in this league. Didn't remember the 2nd guy. Sorry about that. Feel free to delete this...

When I had this happen in the past I offered the guys a contract. However, its happening now with someone I signed as a FA during the off season.

go to rosters and (forget 2nd part of title).

look for the guy missing an asterisk * on your 25-man roster.

longer names might hide it. if you right click to spot check one, go to transactions in the context menu and "place on 40-man" will not display if he is already on the 40-man.
