Tactics either don't work for me or I don't understand something

I think it's probably the don't understand option. I looked at the manual and followed what it said. I have created 4 different tactics, one for each of the 4 lines. I go into tactics and call up line 1 (for example). I then choose the tactic I created (LINE ONE for example) and load it. Then I move to the 2nd line. When I go back and select line 1, it is not my tactics (LINE ONE) that show up but some bastardisation of what I have done. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

For each line: You left click to select puck location then drag the players' numbers to where you want them to be positioned when the puck is in that area. You do this for each area the puck can be on the ice surface. If you want two players on the puck, drag two players to the space. You do this for when you have the puck (offence) and when the opponent has the puck (defence). That's 48 diagrams per line. |

That's the different one. I'm talking about the one where there is a drop-down box for choices. Do I want to "skate, pass, or neutral" when entering the zone. Do I want the tempo to be "fast, very fast, normal, slow, or very slow". Aren't those the tactics options? Boy, I must be really confused. Thanks.

If you have your manager options set for the assistant to handle tactics, they will undo what you did there to what the AI feels you should use.

Thanks, but I want to set whether what tempo the line should play (for example). Do I set that in tactics or do I have to set that up for every game? Are the tactics just for those 48 sections of the ice for placement? Is there any way to save the drop down boxes settings? I hope I'm making myself clear. That's always a problem when describing problems. Thanks.

The tempo, etc., can be set as part of the tactics template you create in the template editor. It sounds like there may be an issue with tactical adjustments made on the main screen reverting to the settings for the currently-chosen default template, but once a new template is created and loaded for the line, they should stick to that template's instructions.

I call the line up to the screen again. I choose the template I want that I created and all looks well. I exit the game and go back in, and the template I chose does not go with the line I am displaying. What did I do wrong? Thanks.

OK, try this: 1. Open the Tactics screen. 2. Click on the Templates tab. 3. On the Action menu, select Create New Template, the new template will appear with a name like "Template 20"; change the name to whatever you want. 4. Edit the template settings however you want. 5. When done, click on Action-Save Template. 6. Click back to the Tactics tab. 7. Choose the line you want to assign the template to, then assign it via Load Template - (Name of your new tactic.) Once that's done, the tactic should be assigned permanently to the correct line. |

I'm baffled. If I do what you say, I should get the results I'm looking for. However, I never get the tactics I created as a template and assigned to a line to show up. Any other ideas? Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is if there is anything I must do after I assign a tactic to a line in the tactics tab. Do I just pick the tactic and move on? Wouldn't I have to perform some sort of save action? Thanks.

				ditto here

I found this very confusing also and finally just let the ai do it because I could not get mine to stay put. Even more confusing are the position adjustments on the ice - I'm not sure where to even begin. Not really sure what is good or bad. I'm sure if I play with the tactics and i can match them to the skill set of my players - but how that interacts with the positions on the ice leaves me scratching my head. some discussion in the manual would be great - about how to approach this ? what to look for on certain tactics ? etc. Of course - could just be me.

I think I'm going to need to have a look at a save from one or both of you to see exactly what's going on here, everything seems to work fine when I test it on my games.

That's it. You can either ftp it to us (instructions here), or upload it to a filesharing site like filedropper.com or dropbox, or whichever one works best for you, and PM me the link.

Very odd, it's happening to me with that save as well, but not in the new test games I start. We're going to have to dig into the save and see what's going on there, that's a pretty nasty bug.

I am having the same issue. Save my template and go into a game. The first period the template is the one i created but the second period it all changes.
