Here is a 30 game, weekend only (Friday-Sunday) high school schedule for 40 teams spread across 2 leagues in 8 five-team divisions

Each team begins the season with two home-and-away three-game series against a team in a different division before playing a balanced 24-game divisional schedule (vs. four teams, home-and-away). It begins in mid-February and necessarily includes off-weekends for each team.

This schedule was created for my own high school league. It is based on geography professor George Etzel Pearcy's 1973 proposal to redraw US state boundaries based on geographic and economic factors (its boundaries are probably a bit dated by now, but still works for my purposes). I added two other teams to make an even 40.
