Just had Yovani Gallardo sign a free agent contract with a team a week into the 2016 season and pitch eight innings of one-run ball against my club the next day. Perhaps there should be a minimum of time under contact after a free agent signing to get realistically ready to play.

Rust works for both AI & your team from my experience. Sometimes they seem more ready if it is after OD.I signed Shoeless Joe Jackson 2 weeks or so after OD and he went 1-4, 3-4, 4-6, 1-4, 2-4, 2-6 until he went 0-5. Different for a SP sure, but i have seen the AI bring someone in and get shelled vs my team after skipping ST.

Whether it's beneficial to or detracts from performance, I think the issue is: it just wouldn't happen in real life....

Didn't Roger Clemons skip ST a couple of times through his latter years.

In Clemens' last two years, he skipped the first two months of each season. First for the Astros, then for the Yanks. In each occasion, he had three minor-league tune-up starts before making MLB appearances. I would think, no matter what kind of throwing program a free agent has, it would *never* happen that he would sign and then pitch the next day. Not a biggie, but it was odd.

Thanks for checking. I stand corrected.
It may be worthwhile to ask for a feature that requires rehab type minor league starts based on the current "rust" state. I'll add it to a list I have.
